I know we've done this list, but I'm too lazy to dig it out.

Anyway, here's two possible candidates.

Greta Garbo, the famous Swedish actress. I was reading about her, and she insisted on closed sets when she was acting. She was famous for even throwing studio execs out ! ! Only the cameraman, and the other actors. She lived with an actor, who wanted to marry her, but she never agreed. She wrote love notes to her female Swedish acting instructor, and spent the rest of her life living alone.

Enzo Ferrari, the man who built the company. He wasn't friendly with his race drivers, even though they brought him fame. He more or less abandoned his relationship with his wife. He rarely left Northern Italy, only visited Rome a couple of times, and never left the country. Even as his race cars made headlines the world over, he was known as being 'provencial'.

Bill Gates supposedly has a formal diagnosis.

Thomas Jefferson was a potential candidate as well.

I think Joni Mitchell sounds like a candidate.

I've been listening too and reading about Joni this past week and had started speculating about that too!

I skimmed through the listing for Joni in Wiki, but I don't really see any tell tale 'symptoms'.

I just thought Garbo was interesting, short but intense career, long retirement in seclusion, problems with alcohol, never married, and so on ...

Nicholas Cage is the NEPHEW of Francis Ford Coppola, the film director of "The Godfather"...I really don't think he's an Aspie.

Einstein is considered to have Asperger's Syndrome. Larry Summers, the former President of Harvard University and who worked
for the Treasury under Bill Clinton also, has Asperger's Syndrome.

Alot of people (Bill Gates, Larry Summers) who have AS grew up in wealthy families and were given many opportunities in life and could "hide" their AS...making it easier for them to blend in with those of the neurotypical world.

Beethoven is a fascinating character. Difficult to get along with, never married, moved from one house to another, was neglectful of personal hygeine, incredibly creative ...

I love the scene in "Immortal Beloved" where a violinist complains to him that his music is difficult to play. Beethoven yells at him, "FOOL, my music is for the ages, not for you!"

Oh blimey, I almost forgot the Patron Saint of ASpies: Syd Barrett!! !

What a bloke he was!! The surviving band members say he did everything he could to sabotage their early success. It was like he wanted to be famous, but obscure. Lived for years in splendid isolation, was never DX'd, spent his days doing odd things, never married, and wrote some marvelous songs!! David Gilmour produced his last album, and there's some wonderful story about "Dominoes" that Syd wanted to record it backwards and forwards on the same track, so he sat down and played it perfectly backwards.

Hmm..Interesting about Keanu Reeves.. He is one of the most good looking actors there is, saying nothing..just had to give you my opinion.. I would like to know why you think he is an Aspie though, curious as I am.

I am amazed of how much people seems to know about actors and actresses. My knowledge about them is only which films they have been in. Their personal life I do not know much about. (Do not get me wrong, I mean no harm at all with this post)

What about Howard Hughes?

Self taught engineer, aviator, motion picture director, drug addict (codeine), recluse, married a couple of times, not all that interested in the marriage relationship, perfectionistic, no close friends as such ...

Favorite story: he was injured while making a movie (Hell's Angels?) and had to be put in the hospital. He hated the hospital bed, so he brought in his engineers to design a bed so he could sit up and get work done. His engineers designed the type of hospital bed we still have, but he was sp impatient to get on with whatever he was doing at that time, he didn't bother to patent it ! !!

Oh, and two more.

Luis Bunuel, obscure surrealist film director

Walt Disney, famous film director

Morrissey.
Watch his youtube interviews, especially earlier ones.
Others have bought it up too and have noticed him stimming on stage.

Its hard to draw the line between possible/impossible aspies ; NTs can be shy, eccentric and have deep passions too. But out of those Snoopy mentionned and I could somehow agree they might be aspies :

Jimi Hendrix : He sure was aspie-like in many ways. He was obsessive about playing guitar (once played 36 hours straight), he had facial mimics when playing, he was perfectionnist and was prone to criticism (could constently ask his friends if his hat, jacket or pants were ok). Bob Dylan was also is idol, and in a documentary Ive seen, one of his ex-girlfirend reported he could talk about him for hours without her showing any interest.

Marylin Manson : Althought I profoundly dislike the guy, I know he was a shy nerdy kid who played dungeons and dragons and was frequently in his fantasies.

Courtney Love : Not so sure as I dont know much about her, but Ive yet to find something that could disqualify her being an aspie.

Keanu Reeves : Doesnt he have an official diagnosis? Its not the first time I hear he is asperger.

Neil Young : Im a big fan of Neil Young and also thought he might possibly be. I dont know much about his personality, but he sure has the look.

Others I have heard are/were most certainly aspies, and even evaluated by professionals : Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Beethoven, Mozart (he was bipolar, aspie Im not sure), Andy Warhol, Sid Barrett (Pink Floyd), Immanuel Kant, Emily Dickinson, the singer from The Vines, Dan Akroyd, Bill Gates... and other I cant remember.

One guy few might know but I believe to be an aspie is Greg Graffin, singer of Bad Religion. He's been one of my idols for quite a few time as I can relate to him in so many ways. Whenever he speaks he tries to be "intellectually correct" more than showing off or try to be kind. He also has an extended vocabulary and a great interest in scientific matters (he owns a PhD in biology). When he's singing on stage, he can look quite gooffy and makes crazy signs with his hands, which almost look like stims. Check him out and tell me what you think (he's the guy singing, of course):
