Things that made me cry seemingly for no reason:

When I was 6 and my dad took me to see The Lion King, I cried at the song Can You Feel The Love Tonight. It wasn't the words; it was the tune, thre instrumentation, whatever.

At a commercial for The Polar Express movie (a book I read many years ago as a little kid) I felt so sad... it was so sweet and I loved it but I was so sad because sweet things like this could get hurt... I'm wierd... I can't explain it... that's the same way I felt for the Lion King movie when I heard Can You Feel The Love Tonight.

And I felt the same way when I saw an advert in a magazine for a teddy figurine called Cora. She was part of the Cherished Teddies collection. I had a special teddy bear called Charity and I made up stories about this Charity character, and one of her friends was called Cora. The combination of all this info made me sad in the same way as the previous two examples...


Then I remember my father, playing his beautiful lively Celtic music, while drinking beer and wearing his clan tartan shirt. It made me imagine him in his coffin wearing that shirt for some reason, dead from something related to alcohol. My mother was sad too but she was mostly sympathetic to me. She said something like, "Look, a little Irish man." As in, "Oh, that's so sweet and sad." Which was the way I was thinking. This was all in my imagination. It wasn't even a dream! It was just a feeling/bad daydream/daymare triggered by this picture of my precious father being himself! My father isn't dead, but I kept imagining horrific things happening to him!

Oh, and when I was 11 and my dad took me to see Star Wars: Episode 1 I cried and cried after Anakin had to leave his mother! My dad was bbaffled that I didn't cry when Jack died when we went to see Titanic!

When I hear or see certain types of patterns combining together.

Same here, but only because I knew it was something I didnt feel from anyone. Of course that was way back, before sadness warped into anger/...other related emotions.
Also, I love Celtic folk music too Didnt make me cry though.

Wow, I understand completely. People have gotten really angry at me for trying to explain it, too, even calling me "emotionally damaged".

The only movie that literally made me cry was Brother Bear when the brother died, I literally burst into tears, I think mainly because I miss my brother.

Certain combinations of minor keys in music.
Beautiful scenes like the water with a sunset reflecting on it
Certain film scenes, like the end of Schindler's List when the survivors are all attending Oscar Schindler's grave.

*Watching burmese monks on the news
*Watching a documentary about India's untouchables
*That bit in Edward Scissorhands where he wants to hug the blond girl... but he can't... because he has scissors... instead of hands... and then she places his arms around her.

The Three Lives of Thomasina, when Thomasina goes to Cat Heaven and sees a whole palace filled with Siamese cats. Seeing the Siamese made me cry, because my favorite cat Samantha was a Siamese.

Also other stuff I see on the internet and mull over. I don't do it that often but I don't crack up at the Holocaust or massacres.

I was watching that Yank documentary regarding WWII. There was a segment about a town in Conneticut USA. The narrator said twelve thousand young men left for the war on one day, then he said they were each given a prayer book and a carton of cigarettes courtesy of the Shriners. I started weeping, and just typing this makes me tear up. (The Shriners are a charity group in the US who dedicate their time and money to helping people.)

It just broke me heart...

For some reason, I would cry every time i watched Fight Club, but I never understood why.

Sometimes I have had an impulse to cry when someone has asked me how I am.

I have a particular friend and whenever i used to speak to him, I would start crying because he was one of very few people who I felt could understand me....because communicating with him was such a release. Now I can start crying if i just think of that person. (just did)

The first movie I ever teared up for was "Snoopy Come Home"
