A Child Called "It", by David Pelzer
Band of Brothers, by Stephen Ambrose
The Big Lie, by Isabella Leitner
Eyewitness Auschwitz: 3 Years In The Gas Chambers, by Filip Muller
I Am A Soldier Too (I forget who wrote it, but it was about Jessica Lynch).
Inside The Hot House (I forget who wrote it, but it was about the Leavenworth prison)
I-Ching... I think it was called that... by some famous person who was arrested for something stupid and was in jail.
Anne Frank: The Diary of A Young Girl
Diary of A Survivor, by Ana Rodriguez
Marking Time, by Michael Bettsworth
A World Apart, by Cristina Rathbone
On The Rock (I think it was called that), by Alvin Karpis

Too many to list and recall, but essentially, anything on Titanic, Serial Killers, abnormal psychology, history of lunatic asylums and esoteric interests.

I have many favourites, but the most useful book I read was
Wasted: A memoir of anorexia and bulimia, by Mary Hornbacher.
It was recomended to me by my friend who was anorexic, it really helped me to understand her condition.

In no particular order:
"Cosmos" by Carl Sagan
"Broca's Brain" by Carl Sagan
"The Gulag Archipelago" by Alexandr Solzhenitsyn
Anything that has anything to do with the history of science, technology, weaponry, or art.
