(Ok, this just by the way, I put "NT" in quotation marks as I don't like the term very much because of the negative connotations it seems to carry here often. On the other hand, I also don't know any better one, so...)

my question is, what behaviours come to your mind which are considered normal but which you actually find funny. I find it funny for example
1. To look at how people swing their arms when they walk.
2. How people sometimes say nothing but "uh-huh" and "m-hm" for a whole 10 minutes or so during a telephone conversation.
3. How they praise themselves by at the same time (seemingly) trying to downplay themselves, aka "He asked me to do this and that and even though I was so busy already I just couldn't say no. You see, that's just what I'm like, I can't say no to anybody, can't help it."

Shaking hands always seemed bizarre to me.

1) Aspies can do this too, I have seen them do this, arm swinging is not a purely NT behaviour. Not all aspies walk with their arms rigid, contrary to belief.

2) Um, lol, aspies have issues with phones and small talk.
Would it not be just as likely an aspie would make such sounds because the topic doesn't interest them or because they cannot find anything to say ?

Personally, I don't understand the whole concept of the text messagers and walking around with a cellphone glued to your ear. When I go out, I don't want to be bothered. If I wanted to be on the phone or IMing someone I would be at home. Other then family emergency, what could be so earth shatteringly important that the person can't leave a message ask you to call them back when you get home?

I have a cellphone basically for emergencies and for my mother, who suffers from severe anxiety, to call me if she's having a rough time. It annoys the hell out of me when she does call, as mean as that sounds, but I can handle that. If someone called me just to tell me what movie they saw last night, the response would not be very friendly. I left the house because I wanted a change of scenery or needed to get something. Let me enjoy it and leave me the heck alone!

/end rant

I agree. I cannot understand these people walking around, talking on phones everywhere - in the supermarket, in the library, on the bus, riding a bike, etc. Like you said, when I'm out of the house, I don't want to talk on the phone! Mine is basically an emergency phone. I used to have an account, and people would constantly call. I could barely hear them over the other outdoors sounds, and it would get frustrating.

NTs don't get the whole cell phone thing either, even though they participate in it. There are alot of jokes about the whole, can't get rid of my cellphone thing. I don't recall what show this was, it was on Comedy Central. They had a skit where a guy carried around a giant prop cellphone in public places, and he'd set the phone down and yell into it like he was talking to someone, LoL.

WOW! I got in trouble in highschool for not swinging my arms. Is that an AS trait? WOW! OK, mark down another AS trait!

I started the uh-huh, etc... because people kept checking to see if I was listening, etc... I hope I never do the head wag that indians apparently sometimes do. YIKES!

I heard a guy last friday where about every 30-60% of words were FILLERS! He was indian and, up to that point, I thought he did ok. 8O

Oh, I didn't mean that there aren't NTs who don't get the cellphone obsession. I just think it's something that an Aspie woudl especially relate too, since personal space and lack of socialness is so common in AS. No offense intended. :)

Talking about the weather. I find it humorous for people to be conversing about things that are very obvious.

Some feel a need to point out things that are new (not saying I don't do this), but the obvious things I find amusing. For instance, if somebody gets a new pair of shoes, and everyone can see them immediately upon looking at the person, yet they still say "do you like my new shoes?" or "did you see? I got new shoes!"

The way many of them get the blank facial expression when I'm talking about something of interest, just as I do when they are talking about everything that happened to them that day.

Lots of people swing their arms when they walk, aspies included. You tend to look very stiff and uncomfortable when they dont.

Uh huh-ing is used when listening to someone else, primarily when that person is upset. This lets the other person vent knowing you're still paying attention to them, without actually interupting.

That last one is annoying. Brag if you want to brag, be humble if you want to be humble, but please, don't try to be both. -_-

I find it annoying when people sit and practicly shout at each other, then if you comment ((like if they start insulting a friend and you defend them)) they accuse you of eavesdropping.

I find it annoying when people are talking to each other, but looking at you for some reason. This has happened more times than I can count. Once I was standing at a bus stop with others. A very large woman said, "Do that again, and I'll come over there and whoop your butt." She was making direct eye contact with me! I faltered out, "What?" She continued to stare, and then walked over and grabbed a little kid by the arm and shook it. I was like, WTF?

Social niceties are something that truly baffle me. I do not understand why people cannot be truly honest, even with their friends.

...the unstoppable NEED to be constantly connected with other people. LOTS of other people. The more, the better.

Why is it that individualism scares them so?

Inability of thinking on their own - their opinions (it's a generalization and simplification, of course) are based on their peers's opinions on the same things.

Treating a kind of music someone listens to as a matter of utmost importance (in young people, especially) - I mean, you're always asked what music you like while someone very rarely hits upon an idea to ask you about your favourite films or books. And even in such cases if you admit you like watching/reading unpopular (and characterized by a low quality) things, it's not a shame and reason of mocking like it happens in case of music. Once, I remember, when I was 12, I was asked by another girl from my class what music I liked. I was racking my brains for several seconds trying to discover what kind of answer she had expected and in the end I squeezed out an answer: "A modern and a classical one". I was VERY proud of myseld that I was able to give an answer because I didn't have the slightest idea what kind of answer was expected from me.
