I tried Bioshock ....it's just another nice FPS with some halflife/jediknight-like features , I don't understand why all this hype about this game .

what do you think abt bioshock?

For me, there's too many ways to kill somebody. It feels like alot of fluff. I'd rather spend my time shooting 3 guys and getting some story than setting up an elaborate trap to get one guy by poisoning a medkit.

I agree, but it is extremely well polished, it feels very immersive, the sound is excellent and it's one of the best looking games on the 360 - so within its own framework it works incredibly well.

If you start talking about great games, well you have to look at the fact it's solo play only, taking say 20 hrs to play through once. So if you were to compare that to Oblivion's 200+ hours (one of the few other solo play only games on the 360), it's a bit like comparing an excellent short film with an epic blockbuster, what I mean is that it must be easier to pull off a great experience if there is less things to mess up!

i haven't played yet but i figured it'd be an awesome game on the strength of it being the same guys that did system shock 2 and i expected a nice story and some twists and big focus on cool game play and making you have to think about what you're doing.

Never played it, but lately there have been a lot of extremely hyped games (halo 3, bioshock, the orange box) that have come out and gotten ridiculously high scores in the game reviews. It seems like the companies might be paying off the reviewers or something.

I tried out the demo, and the whole time I was just wishing it was more like Deus Ex :-/
But maybe I'll try it again sometime when I'm in more of a mood to be sucked in by the atmosphere, which is supposed to be that company's strength

^^ Bioshock is nothing compared to the great deus ex ...nothing!! it's just a FPS with some genetic-magic spells (yay!) and some weak rpg-like features like fetching the bodies for items.

Yeah... I mean I understand they wanted to simplify the RPG mechanics from SS2 a little bit... ok, fine. But then they took away any incentive to avoid death? :-/ and it seems like the only choices you get to make are between killing or saving the little sisters... a little too simple for my tastes.

No...I do not think that it's overrated. It's a genuinely good game, and it's rare to find something with some depth and a rich storyline, instead of this button-mashing, multiplayer fluff that dominates the market.
