I like to compare lust vs. love to different size stars... Lust burns a lot hotter than true love, but it also dies out in a fraction of the time...

By the common understanding of "lust", this isn't necessarily true. You can have a relationship in which both parties have a lasting committment and a very passionate, healthy sex life.

The ecclesiastical definition of lust is to use another human being as little more than a tool for one's own sexual pleasure, in which case of course lust is entirely incompatible with love.

I dunno.....I think lust can be quite fun  . I spose it is frustrating when it is not reciprocated.

Maybe we should come with a switch so it can be turned on and off.

Well the majority of human achievements have been done with the sole purpose of impressing women in order to get some sex. So I'd say lust is a necessary evil.

As the French say: "cherchez la femme."

Like greed and fear, I could do without it. I look forward to living in Heaven, where we'll have none of those things.

I wouldn't mind a relationship based on lust as long as I'd have friends to rely on in times of emotional need.

I was thinking more of the second definition... I don't consider the first to be "lust", as it involved a committed relationship (while I've always considered lust to be the antithesis of a committed relationship)
