Yes. I am, though I'm not really into it and I stay away from the weird stuff. I also know there are two other AS furries in Vancouver as well.

I'm just interested to find if there is a link between AS/Autism and being a fandom member - I think the great majority of people steer clear of the "Weird" stuff; the pornography and the sexual behaviour, allthough personally I have no great problem with either.

I don't consider myself a full-fledged fan, though I tend to go on "furry kicks" every now and then where I like to look at art and draw pictures of it.

I'm a self-confessed fully fledged fan; I've attended a few confurences, i'm going to Anthrocon '08 in pittsburgh and i'm considering construction of a fursuit - some may see this as weird, but its fun and i've never found a more accepting and liberal sub-community - except perhaps, this one.
:)

That's good. Y'know, I had a friend who was a furry back in junior high. He was one of the only people who was truly accepting of me.

Its because, I think, the fandom attracts a great deal of personal expression, and the only truely comfortable environment for that is one that is incredible accepting.

do any of you draw non-humanoid/anthro related furry art?
could be more interesting.

it might be an interesting fandom especially when you go by a nick+animal as a username.

but it only exists only in my imagination.

I'm actually somewhat of a fan, but I draw the line at the 'wierd s**t'. --I think this is probably true for most people who are fans.

Yes. I don't care what people say about it being sexual, sinful and whatever. People seem to want to pick problems with everything I get into. I want to have a meerkat tail made and wear it but the idea freaked out my mom because it wasn't "normal". People give me funny looks anyway why not give them a reason too. Besides, I wasn't aware that there was a law about wearing costumes.

This is something I have heard of before and am totally baffled by.
You like to draw animals, or you want to be an animal, or what?
What does one do at a confurence?

Furries sicken me to the point of wanting to kill the fans of them.

Come then, little one... Kill me if you can. I'll make it easy on you (seemingly). I'll be blindfolded with both hands tied behind my back. I'll even give you a free hit. What do you say?

Good fortune,

- Icarus laughs at your "want" to kill...

It's actually an offshoot of Science Fiction fandom. The whole furry fandom thing diverged from SF Fandom around the mid 80's. Basically stuff like The Chronicles of Narnia and stuff like that with talking anthropomorphic animals.

Whilst there has been a lot of bad things said about furry fandom as a whole, this article which covers a confurance seems to get it right. Then again, back in the 30's there were also a lot of bad things said about science fiction as well.

Every time I hear about furries I think of a certain scene in "The Shining" where the boy gets a glimpse through an open hotel room door....
(I think it's the boy, maybe it was the dad. Doesn't really matter which one anyway)
