Forgetting The Song You Just Listened To

Does anyone listen to a song without realzing it? Like when I'm surfing the internet while listening to music, a song'll play and I completely forgot what had just played when the next song starts.

When I've got music in the background I do that quite a lot. But sometimes, if its a song that I know really well I can sing along with out having to think about it at all, and I do. I think it drives my family insane.

What happens with me is I'll hear a song I like, and would want to find out more info on it, but when I get a chance I will have forgotten about it.

I don't think I can recall this happening. Usually if music is on it distracts me from everything else and all I am aware of it the music. For some reason it doesn't always have the same effect when watching TV, but in some movies I hear that soundtrack and can't remember what happened in the movie. I will be hearing the music and then when it stops my attention goes back to the visual part and I realize I missed an entire scene, or more commonly a dialogue. If I go into a store where music is playing I usually try to stay in areas closest to, or farthest from the speakers, depending on what is playing. I can remember what was played for very long periods of time. Like I could say that on our visit to Lowe's to look for a stool 8 months ago, Toto's "Rosanna" was playing, followed by a Steely Dan song, or when we were at CompUSA looking at printers over a year ago, the song "Toy Soldiers" was playing while we were looking at the Epson 2200.

Yes. I often go to the point of putting a song on because I want to listen to it and wen it startis my mind wanders to everything else and I realize that I did not listen to the song after all.

YES! that happens to me sometimes. the other day, I was in the car with my mom, and I asked her to turn on the music, and it was on already. weird... especially when it's the song don't you want me by human league which I love.

hehehe. but sometimes when I listen to it, it's like I can't even hear it, like it's not playing but it is.

That happens to me too! I put a song on coz I wanna listen to it and then I find myself having to play it again because I wasn't actually listening the first time.. lol. This thread just reminded me that I was originally coming online to look up some lyrics and obviously, I forgot .
