I heard it's about 2 aspies who fall in love.

Is it worth watching?

Well, if you ask it that way, you're gonna get a debate. Is it worth watching? Matter of opinion. If you like romantic comedy/drama, sure. If you want to see a movie depicting romance with aspergers, sure. If you don't like Josh Hartnett and feel he should be prevented from acting by placing him in a cage until the end of time, no. (Ok, that was a bit harsh.)

But I liked it. Worst case scenario, it's two hours of your life you'll never get back. Take the plunge. :)

Yeah, Josh Hartnett kind of ruined it.

I liked the movie. But since it's a comedy, it's characters have caricatured personalities, and doesn't give a 100% realistic picture of Asperger's syndrome. Peter Næss have also directed a movie named Elling, which is about two autistic people. This movie is somewhat darker than Mozart and the Whale, but the characters are more realistic.

I've never understood why other aspies get their panties in a bunch over this film. My mom and I both thought it was an accurate depiction of life with AS.

I liked it a lot and I feel it's realistic enough.
Mary also has PTSD and I think a lot of people felt that those traits cancelled out her AS. So, they thought she was "just crazy". I don't agree, I felt they were fairly accurate.

Yes it's worth watching. It's Spokane and everyone in it on the spectrum are all different. They aren't all the same.

I actually didn't like the movie tha much, and would like to read Jerry's book at some time. I thought that the characterisation in the movie was exaggerated.

I'd say it's definitely worth watching. I thought Josh Hartnett acted really well, but that's just me.

I found "Mozart..." the most realistic of those two, so... different people, different opinions.

Well, it was targeted at an American audience...

(Was that racist?)

It's not bad. Not amazing, but it's ok. It shows they are real people and capable of relationships. People knock it, but for being the only movie I have ever seen in my life with AS main characters, it is an ok start.

I think it's ok, and it is worth to watch, considering it is based on two real life aspies.

I would only say it is worth watching if you are lucky to have a relationship with an AS female/male and you happen to have the diagnosis yourself. For me, it would hurt too much to look being I don't have one right now, and lost my last relationship two years ago.
