Actually, there are lots of bad actors that make loads of money; you don't require talent for it. Look at the guy who plays Harry Potter, he can barely act at all (he does little more than move his eyebrows), I had schoolmates that were much better actors than he is, but he happened to look like the kid on the books' cover and was at the right place at the right time. many people in showbiz made their money because they happened to have certain looks and happened to be at the right place at the right time (and yes, they have it easy - if they choose to spend their wealth on drugs, they're not hard-done by, just self-destructive - it's their own stupid choice). Athletes do require lots of work and discipline, there's far more merit in sports celebrities than in singers that can't sing or actors that can't act.
A lot depends on how the money is made, some people became rich by working hard and inventing something new that had huge commercial success (in the Carnegie, Ford, etc tradition). others (in the 3rd world tradition) became rich by less honourable means - for example Carlos Slim (who is richer than Bill Gates), he has made his money through monopolies and ripping off consumers, he got his first monopoly by buying it form the government at a discount because he was the Mexican President's friend (practically all the Mexican rich made their money via government positions, political connections, drugs, monopolies, cartels, oligopolies or inheritance). There are worse cases, such as Robert Mugabe. Obviously drug barons are very rich, too (sometimes I think the world's true richest guy must be some American drug baron - remember that drug barons do more than just sell drugs, they murder rivals, police, etc). The same goes for other forms of organised crime (though theft is relative, there was some legitimacy in Francis Drake stealing stolen gold from the Spanish). There are rich people that are actually stupid, but with the right family and friends' connections, you can go far.
I don't dislike all the rich (see what I mentioned on innovation), but I don't automatically admire money, either. I think it's better to judge people by who they are or what they do, not the price tag on their car or the numbers on their bank accounts.
