I love dancing. I've never taken any lessons. I started out just dancing for fun. Then I started to become the center of attention at parties, so with other people having high expectations of me, I started watching youtube tutorials on cripwalking, gliding, waving, tutting, etc. I was never any good at waving. I don't have a lot of fine control over specific muscle groups, so I have trouble keeping all of myself still except for one part at a time, which is the basis of waving styles. (There's more to waving than just "the wave". Good dancers can transmit that motion up to their neck or down thru their spine and into their knees and back up again, or whatever.) I copied some moves off of the phenomenal Korean dancer Nam Hyun Joon. (I could never do his really tricky moves, like where he flops over, rolls himself off the floor in crazy ways, and ends up back on his feet.)
I don't practice any more. I hardly ever have the time. I just dance for myself. In pubs and at parties, people frequently think I'm dancing to impress them (fortunately, these people are usually impressed anyway). Dancing helps to invigorate me more than relax me. When I get "in the groove", my feet just can't stop moving.
