Australia has a new Prime Minister. After 11.5 years, John Howard has been voted out of office.

Thank goodness for that. I have been embarassed to be in Australian for a few years - John Howard's refusal to sign the Kyoto protocol, refusal to apologise to aboriginals, shabby treatment of refugees etc

Kevin Rudd, our new Prime Minister, will sign Kyoto in the new couple of weeks - yay!

Australia is economically strong, but a bit 'mean' at the moment. Hopefully Rudd will change this.

I really hope this change will do so much good for the country.

John Howard's government must have been the most racist government since the removal of the White Australia Policy. I am of Aboriginal descent and I get on with people of all backgrounds. Racism has no place in the modern world, as it is getting increasingly easier for people all over the world to try to understand and accept each culture as it is due to more exposure via media and travel.

I also love to see the end of those controversial policies such as the Industrial Relations laws. Very little protection of workers rights - the likes of my grandmother and grandfather had pushed for better working conditionsduring their working lives, only to have much of it eroded away under Howard.

I don't like either side much, in the end they all become complacent and greedy, so all you can do is boot em out every few terms, it keeps them on their toes.

I find Rudd a bit shallow. I like Julia Gillard though, she's maggie thatcher meets helen clarke!

I was so happy when it was announced Rudd won on Saturday. Bob Hawke had actually called the winner at 8.00 pm, 2 hours after the close of polls in NSW and Vic. When the announcement came on Sky News, the WA vote hadn't been counted, so it proved that the Libs were on the nose everywhere. Besides, it's about time Howard went; his policies smacked of the Menzies 'ride on the sheep's back' mentality of the 50s, and even the fact that he failed maths at school, became treasurer during one of Australia's worst periods for inflation, and then brings out a GST when in office shows what an absolute tool he is. But what pissed me off even more with him was how quickly he jumped into bed with Bush during that phoney war on terror. Millitary force against terrorists; don't make me laugh. Like looking for a needle in a haystack, to quote the Twilights hit. Also, Rudd's group are fresh and young, not stale and geriatric like the last lot; and the future can only change for the better.

Heh, they've already disarmed the populace of Australia and much of Europe, and pretty much the rest of the NWO. It's all coming down to them disarming North America now, if they do you'll definately get a new leader, if you think this other guy was "mean" you haven't seen nothing yet. They've been discussing globalization plans now for generations and it's fixing to come to fruition if something isn't done about it.

Who cares? It doesn't affect the average man on the street like where his next meal is coming from or how much petrol costs etc. The only ones who seem to be worried about this New World Order shite are the fundamentalist Doomsday Christians crapping on about the antichrist and the end of the world. But seriously, the election here was fought on environmental policy, IR and people were just sick of those tired old faces that represented the money making conservative rich.

I am no fundamentalist Christian, I'm Agnostic.

And I think that it is highly possible that something is going on behind the scenes that we're not supposed to know about. Disarming of citizens, well, the military has all the big guns anyway. It wouldn't matter much. There's been plenty of government scandals which have been portrayed as "isolated" incidents. Are they all really isolated?

The thing is, the average 'man in the street' doesn't care about all this globalization and secret agenda w*k. All they want is comfort, to be able to afford to pay their bills, buy food, and cheer on their football team or sporting hero, Environment was the closest thing to a big issue in this election, and if you asked anyone about the NWO, they'd say 'what the f*ck?'

Would you call yourself an "average man in the street"?

It doesn't matter what the average joe's concerns are, it matters that the general public remain oblivious to whatever might be going on behind the scenes, and no-one gets in the way. As I said, I am open to the possibility that there is such a group of conspirators. Yes, you may remain mostly protected by remaining ignorant, no, if such a thing does exist, you'll be but another person, a pawn that they don't give a crap about. Would you be happy in such a situation?

congrats on yer new PM! we still have a freaking year until curious george leaves. im not a religious person either but something fishy is going on here in america with this freaking Real ID that nobody seems to know about, of course if you work somewhere in the government you do but the average person has no clue this crap is going to happen in a few years.

just check out oregon.

New state law will change how Oregon issues driver licenses and identification cards.

Oregon DMV is going to start using "facial recognition" software, a new tool in the prevention of fraud, by the July 2008 deadline required under a new state law. The law is designed to prevent someone from obtaining a driver license or ID card under a false name.

sorry but thats bs, if i lived in oregon i'd be very afraid.

and most people ive seen talk about the nau, ex presidente vicente fox, and henry kissinger arent exactly consiracy theorists. although both do belong in a prison cell because they are criminals. the bottom line here i think is that people atleast in america like there freedoms, and a national id card for "federal purposes" is just not cool.

I'm stoked by this, and for John Howard to lose his seat in Parliament too was the icing on the cake...

If people recall the news footage of Rudd and Rupert Murdoch leaving a lunch venue, both with beaming smiles, (I think it was about 3 months ago), it was clear who would be elected then. I don't remember if Rupert patted his pocket at the time (as if to say, 'he's in my pocket) but he doesn't always make that gesture.
