Problem with Men on WP

Is there some sort of symbol that women can use in their profile to indicate that we are not interested in personal relationships? I have been receiving PM's from men who are wanting to exchange e-mail addresses, and "get to know me" better. One guy started asking for nude pics. I'm beginning to get really annoyed.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that would be something you should report to a moderator.

As for the rest, well, you could put something about it in location, or as part of your profile picture. I'm not sure how many guys would really pay that much attention. If they don't take the hint after you tell them you're not interested, repeated messages would again be something worth reporting to a moderator.

You could make a note of your unavailability in the "interests" section, I suppose. And if someone is making uninvited requests for nude pics, please report this individual to a moderator.

Thank you for the responses. I don't mind if people just want to chat, via PM or whatever, but this other stuff is truly beneath my intelligence.

I'm welcome for friends, but overly-friendly creeps the hell out of me, and I am also very conscious about how comfortable the other person is. Thus, when I told Amanda for the first time that I had feeling for her, I almost felt like I should be sitting on the toilet so I don't cause too much of a mess.

Here's two solutions:
1) Say so in your sig that you are NOT interested.
2) Make your location some foreign country in the Middle East or Brazil or South Africa or something.


Star used to have a similar, if not the same, person go at her asking for pics like that, which were met with a swift block, and I think maybe Ashleigh did as well.

That aside - I think that the nature of ASD, this being a community site for that and it being a textual medium all add up together to make this kind of experience very likely for single women here. That isn't a good thing, of course, because it tends to drive the women away, but what I'm saying is that I could see how this is happening. A guy doesn't have any real aptitude with women in the real world. He relates better to people over the internet than face-to-face. There aren't any people like him around. He's lonely. And there's three or four of him for every one of you, too! The odds are that much better that you'll be crushed on in some form or another.

It's not surprising at all that a man in that situation would capitalize on the opportunity to interact with women who are largely in the same situation, and it's also not surprising that they do so in an awkward or socially inappropriate manner. I think this may be a situation where understanding and gentle correction may be in order, but that would probably be more the place of the moderators. It may help, when the subject comes up, to state your feelings on it very directly to the person who is doing it. They may not realize that they're being inappropriate, and explaining it to them directly let's them know that their behavior is not OK.

Sad and Pathetic... the guys who keep bothering you, that is.

Use your imagination, put a made-up country (the Republic of Farghestan, the Isle of San Serife, etc) or one that no longer exists or was never recognised (the Cisalpine Republic, the Republic of the Sierra Madre). But something Islamic-sounding would probably work best.
