You know, the worst part about this dating/mating BS is the apparent fact that I really dont have much control over finding someone and becoming un-single. So I am really struggling to cope with something that is essentially beyond my control. I cant stand it, something inside of me will just NOT accept having no control and allow me to let go and live my life. My shrink hasnt been much help-he says wanting a gf is a biological imperative that will not subside. I wish I could distract myself with something that might accomplish what I did 10 f*****g years ago. *sigh*

Not having a boyfriend/girlfriend just simply means you are a genetic dead end...you can't pass your genes on to the next generation. There are way too many divorces and people marrying for the wrong reasons. I don't believe a bf/gf is an absolute
essential in life, but having reliable, supportive friends is a requirement to get through life. The hardest part is finding those individuals who will stick by you in bad times as well as the good times.

What is more important is having meaningful goals in life...something that provides us with a sense of purpose and a reason to
get out of bed in the morning, otherwise we tend to wander in our idleness... and depression will begin to take over your life.

Find a need in life...and then, attempt to fill it!

Are you implying that because I dont have a gf now that I NEVER WILL HAVE ONE AGAIN???
WTF! Explain to me how being a singleton at this point indicates that I will always be one 'till the day I die...

Thats not the hardest part of dating. The hardest part of dating is trying to make it work with someone just because you feel the need to have a relationship. People tend to overlook things that will drive them crazy later in the hectic pursuit to find thier mate.

I would rather be alone than miserable trying to make it work with someone that I wasn't meant to be with.

Of course, I'm in a relationship so you might think thats easy for me to say, but I was single for years before I found the right person.

Hang in there, it will happen when the right person comes along
