A bit of a story you might like.
I sent a story (for about the 5-8 age group) to several agents and most of them replied that they liked it, but none of them replied that they wanted to publish it. I hope it gets some success on WrongPlanet (not only because[i]I[i] want to show you, but because I want to make you entertained by it.
This is a story about a penguin called Conrad who runs away. Here are the first two chapters. If you like it I will make a new discussion for the rest of it.
Chapter 1:"I hated it here."
There was an island, with nothing but short trees and shrubs and hardly any ice for a penguin. Hardly anyone was different - except me. My name is Conrad. I was one of the few penguins here who was different. Even though I ate the same fish and waddled the same, I thought differently. I did not like to be different from eveyrone. So without thinking, I paddled away from home.
I looked up at the stars and knew that I would see them again, no matter where I was. "The same stars will always be there," my mum whispered back to me in my heart.
I went down to the beach and found a stable piece of rotten old wood and quite a loong stick. I started paddling away from my home on the calm waves, using the stars I knew to guide me across the ocean. As I went farther, I kept rembering my mum and Nana. Apart from them, I didn't have any friends.
After two days of paddling and catching fish as they came closer to the surface, I saw an island in the distance. On this island, were the tallest trees I had ever seen. I could see enormous chukns of ice on each side. Homeward bound!
Chapter two: Scuffy
A penguin about the same age as me, played on the ice.
"Hello!" he cried and waved.
I paddle my way, fumblilly towards him. As I got closer, I saw he was an adelie penguin, just like me. I parked my plank of wook and stick on the sand as I walked onto land.
"Welcome stranger," smiled the penguin.
"I am Conrad," I replied gleefully, walking in circles, looking at the sand beneath my feet.
"Where do you come from?" asked the penguin.
"From another boring island far away," I replied.
"My name's Scuffy, at your service," he replied and bowed. I bowed slightly as well. " I will show you around, I'm sure you'll be very keen to this place."
I nodded slowly.
I followed Scuffy over the island, often staring up to the clouds. I had never seen such tall and fabulous trees like the ones here. They stretched into the sky and seemed to go up into space.
We went on for not too long, skipping on stones over a little stream and squelching through dark brown mud.
Scuffy and I came to a bed of leaves at the foot of a tallish tree.
"You can sleep here," Scuffy told me. "Then in the morning we can go and play."

This is good! I think there would be loads of people who would like to read this... I am quite intrested in it... I'd be happy to help with the story if you need any help. I can imagine this being a movie... I think this would make a good picture book too...
Thank you very much Gismo. When I first sent it to agents I thought of it being a sort of book for 5-8 year olds (like the Secret Unicorn books and some of the Lucy Daniels, don't know if you know these). I am very grateful for your praise.
Regards, mightyzebra
P.S Do you want to read the rest of it?

For some BIZZARE reason I have not replied to your question - and I'm surprised I didn't mention the name when I made the discussion. The book is called "Scuffy and Me". I think I might post more if other people comment on it. If nothing happens for about - ooh, a month, then I'll just add more and be DONE with it.
