Lately I've been interested in doing a family tree and finding out where my family came from does anyone besides me find this weird

Two of my sisters and my mom worked on this and had a book published... just copies for the family though.

You may be surprised in what you can find out about your family.
The Mormon Church has quite an extensive database on people/families in the U.S.

There are other places to look also... D.A.R., etc.

My sisters found family members that we didn't know we had... who were still living and excited to be contacted... and those who lost contact with family members from long ago.

Have fun, organize well, and don't be afraid to look into a few dark closets :skull:

Not at all weird, it is called Genealogy. I find it to be awesome to be related to a branch of Irish nobility, who knows who may be in your family tree. Happy hunting!

The only bummer for me is that I am adopted, so all this history my sisters and mom dug up only applies to them.
I just don't see it as my family history.
But I'm starting my own through my daughter!
I'm not so sure I'm a good figurehead for the family genealogy though! :geek:

Weird? No, it's pretty common. I love genealogy. My uncle has done extensive research on our family history and I consider myself his apprentice.

I don't find this weird at all...

Infact, I find it interesting... I have no idea about my family origins and have considered doing this myself. I just need to find family members who will know about it though.

Not weird...I would also like to do it, but that would involve talking to family members.

Definitely not weird.

On my mothers side they have books with the family tree going back to when they came to America, five generations or so ago. I know that Jonathan Edwards and Ulysses S. Grant are two ancestors from my mothers side. There are more well known ones, but those two are all I remember off hand.

I'd really like to know more about my dad's side of the family. But it's like there's a gaping hole between us(His parents and me) that I'll never be able to fill. And I'm not sure whether or not the Cherokee kept much of a family record anyway.

It would be a worthy endeavor imo, maybe I'll hire a detective to do the work for me one day.

Oh, I don't care if I see my family, it's just that the Aspie in me would like to have a chart of family history.
