Or maybe even the inability to make decisions.

Does this affect you? are you unable to commit one way or the other?

Depth mentioned this and it struck a chord, I struggle with this on a daily basis from "What do you want for dinner?" to "What are we going to do this weekend?" so on and so forth.

I normally defer decisions to the other people involved. I usually just say "whatever you want" or "I don't care" to keep the decision out of my hands.

I am nearly incapable of making decisions. It causes a problem at work which I hide well, but this is indeed something I have trouble with.

Oh yes. People (NT's) don't tend to believe me, but yes. I felt really ridiculous when I posted that post asking for help to decide! But I simply couldn't, and I have this problem to a point where people get frustrated and mad at me. I have gotten into a lot of trouble because of my "I don't know" answers. This gets even worse if people are stressing me; all thoughts leave my head and I can't even form a comprehensible reply, if even say anything at all. If people pester me for a decision, it usually ends with me whimpering and flinching away.

I know exactly what you mean. The more I concentrate on the options the less I can focus on making a decision. They all sort of blank out and smear together.

PS you have a lovely artistic talent and I like your new avatar.

(Thank you. That was... weird and unexpected, but thank you, nonetheless.)

LOL yes, big time. I am lost with those types of questions...

And those you mentioned are a couple of the most common "stumpers" I think as well. Just too many possibilities to narrow it down in an instant.

I drive my mate crazy with that stuff.

I never had trouble making decisions. There are some tough decisions that may take me a while to consider, but I'm usually extremely quick in deciding.

What I do, and it may not work for you, due to aspergers and the unlikelihood of me having it, is think about it for a couple of seconds then just say one of the choices quickly.

I used to be really bad about it... I'm better now, but it's still tough sometimes. I think for me it boils down to the fact that I always see several pros and cons to each side, and I feel like there is no real correct answer and that it is only my perception that is going to determine which I choose, so I wrestle around with my perception weighing these pros and cons ad infinitum until finally I have to say to heck with it and I pick something.

With big decisions, though, I find it's best to let them come to you. I am now a senior in college, and it took me this whole time to figure out what I want to do with my life. As a freshman, all I thought about all day long was what I should major in and what I should do with my life, and all it did was confuse me more. It wasn't until I stopped trying so hard and just lived for a couple of years that I realized what was important to me.

Yes. Especially so when a plan I had has been thwarted by someone else midway. Also when stressed. I've had a pretty severe case of 'executive dysfunction'(either that, or just plain laziness) for the last couple years, but now that I have an idea what is going on, I'm more motivated than I've ever been since 2004.

I'm curious to know exactly what this 'plan' is, and have been so for the past month.

I often say "I don't know" when people ask me to decide something, not because I truly don't know but because I don't want to offend anyone by making the wrong choice. It's a weak thing to do and I've been making an effort to change.
