Firefox has a built in spell checker.

It isnt difficult to implement a Java Based spellcheck for any form on a website, you just need to know what your doing.

No matter HOW you implement it, it is a resource drain, the computations, lookups, and comparisons have to be done somewhere, computing resources are not free.

If its implemented properly resource drain will be minimal. It would take less drain on the client then it would downloading all the ads for this page your looking at.
