Anime is so confusing. Why do people like it so much? I just can't understand why people like it. The only anime I ever actually liked was Duel Masters. Everything else I watched sucked. And believe me, the only anime we get here is the new Pokemon series, Naruto and probably One Piece. But that's on normal TV. God knows what's on pay TV... I liked Ghost in the Shell: SAC for awhile, but I didn't even know what it was about...

My all time favourite is Kiki's Delivery Service.

That was understandable...

I enjoy some anime, but really only fairly mainstream stuff. I used to like Dragon Ball, and Pokemon, but am now more interested in Evangelion, Ghost in the Shell: SAC, and Planetes. When Death Note comes out over here, I will have a look at it.

If I had money to buy anime, I would. But most anime is stupid. I saw the first episode of .hack//, but there is no way in hell it would be sold here. And I enjoyed it...

ive always had a problem with anime. in most animes ive seen, there is barely 20% the amount of actual animation as most other cartoons have, anime just feels cheap to me. there are a lot of static shots of characters standing still, and when they speak only their mouths move, there are usually no body movements which would occur in real life. this is not what animation should be at all, i feel like i am watching a very detailed storyboard at times, i sometimes would rather read the manga because i feel i would get more out of it. a lot of anime is also very very similar. though there are some well done animes out there, they are very few and far between.

some great ones would be Death Note (mainly for the story), Akira (great animation and visuals), cowboy bebop, and samurai champloo.

Most of the Ghibli movies are well done.
Not too familiar with anything else.

Ghibli is great indeed.

When I watched Spirited Away I felt happy for about three days; it is really nice.
Kiki is also a nice one. But I liked Laputa, Castle in the Sky better.

Grave of the fireflies is really sad, that one can get me crying. That boy is really alone...

I used to kind of be an anime nut when I was a teen; I can't stand it now, with the exception of Azumanga Daioh (because it is just THAT awesome of a show). Manga, on the other hand, is a completely different story; I love it. My favorite mangas are Battle Royale, MPD Psycho, and Azumanga Daioh (the two former being extremely violent and messed-up, the later being cute and silly to a tasteful, non-childish degree). I have Battle Royale and Azumanga Daioh in their entire volume collections.

When I used to watch anime, I liked Slayers and Patlabor; I do not regret getting into them. Chobits was okay as well, but I sort of found it to be too girly to really get into without embarassing myself. I still love Ghost in the Shell, but only in the form of their movies. I lost interest in anime when I was 20 because...well I'm not sure, I just grew out of it I guess. Most of the existing anime is watered-down childish crap, and it's been that way since it's beginning. My former interest in anime gradually transformed into my current interest in East Asian films such as "Cure" by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, the MPD Psycho television series by Takashi Miike, and "Oldboy" by...well whoever the South Korean gentleman was who made it.

Hey, I thought we weren't supposed to show empathy (just kidding).
Luckily I watched this before showing it to my kids... I decided near the end that it was a bit too much for them.

I like anime, though not as much as I used to do. I agree with brfandan about the animation.

I dont watch Anime TV series (only one-off movies) because I have a problem with things not ending....

If I were to buy one (I couldn't rent - too OCD), I'd have to start at Volume 1 and wouldn't be able to stop until I got to the "end" of the series, even if it went bad.... very expensive for me.
