I don't know about the girl, but I'd pick Toby Maguire for Donald. Or a younger John Cusack.

IMHO, Josh Hartnett was boring & Radha Mitchell was annoying-generally don't enjoy watching/listening to either actor. Find them both aesthetically & aurally unappealing, was disappointed when I found out they were going to be the leads. They (Radha & Josh) seem conventionally attractive (according to popular consensus)-my perception differs.
Realize they were playing roles of real people (who may well have boring/annoying behaviors)-but still believe I'd have liked film better with different actors.

That's an inspired choice, by which I mean creative & interesting, in a good way. Would quite like to see that version !

Josh Hartnett isn't usually a good actor, but I'd say he did very good in Mozart and the Whale.

Since I read the book first, I had a whole different idea of how they should look. I thought they should look more like the authors.

Although I didn't think Josh did a bad job with it. The girl annoyed me.

I think maybe Jack Black would have done a good job. As far as a woman, I don't know.

Donald: Ben Stiller and/or Steve Buscemi and/or Christopher Walken and/or Willem Dafoe
the girl: Helena Bonham Carter.

Crispin Glover would make a great aspie.

As for Isabelle: Eva Green (see The Dreamers), or Kate Winslet (see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). Both have proven themselves to be quite good at portraying such characters.

Or her. She's good at that kind of role. XD In "Fight Club" she added a lot of charisma to a seriously messed up, and frankly bitchy character who in lesser hands would have been easy to hate.

Maybe back in her "Mean Girls" days, but in anything recent? -Snort- Five words: "I Know Who Killed Me."

Donald: Ben Affleck
Isabelle: Jennifer Garner

Yes, I know they are married but wouldn't this be a interesting combination?
Besides, you gotta give Ben some credit.

In fact, the movie that convinced me of Lindsay's acting skills was Freaky Friday. She played the mom extremely well.

Jack Black would be cool. I wish John Belushi were still around.

Yeah, I've seen some of her movies and she's in fact a good actress.

I'd like to change my vote of Steve Buscemi/Ben Stiller/Christopher Walken/Willem Dafoe
to vote for: Geoffrey Rush
Image
bestest actor ever.
