I'm a little short on cash, so I'm going through some old books to have something to read. Reread 'Endger's Game', and wondered if he was aspie or not. Thoughts? film at 11...;)

IMO it was more that he was a designer baby ( to effectivley be the best leader possible) and therefore socially aqward. I dont think he was aspie. then again this is strictly basedd on what i remeber from reading it 5+ years ago. Maybe i should reread it.

Sidenote: Bean( a major supporting characterin EG) has his own Book called Ender's Shadow. Infact theres a whole slew of books in teh Ender universe. Theres the Enders Game/Shadow Books, a post Ender Earth trilogy, and a Ender 3000 years in the future trilogy( Speaker for the Dead trilogy). I loved the SFTD trilogy.

I got half way through the first one. It sucked big time, I just hated the writing style.

I'm a big fan of the Ender's Game book, not so much the rest of the saga. The Bean saga was far more interesting as a whole. It seemed a lot more well thought out and wasn't as episodic as the original saga.

Cheers

I read both the Ender-series and the Shadow-series. Also the short story about the meetup of Andrew and Jane, the computer programme.

The later parts of the Ender-series are different from the first parts of the Enders-series and the Shadow-series.

About his aspiness? No, I do not think so. For some reason he has the power to inspire people, I have not found myself inspiring people. He is also really young, try to read the ages of the kids!

I like all the saga but the Ender series is better while the Shadow series doesn't seem to be equally interesting. I must read all the books again, thanks for reminding me about them :D

But generally I'm not a big fan of novels by Card. Maybe only also "Wyrms" is good. I remember too that I have read one great short story about a crippled teen who exchanged her body with no limbs for "life" of spaceship and living in the space but I'm not 100% sure that it's Card's.

Yes,that's a classic:"The Ship who sang" by Anne McCaffrey
Here's the link where you can read it for free:

I thought Wyrms was ok too,but i hated the ending, can't remember why.
I wouldn't re-read any of Cards work, just because there's so much new stuff out there that appeals more to my tastes
Richard Morgan
Neal Asher
Neil Stephenson
are my Top Three at the moment.

I've never read Anne McCaffrey. I checked this and it's "A Sepulchre of Songs" by Card.

Hmm...I think I have about the first 3 books by him. Have some other Card stuff (there's one about an alternative US that has magic, that ain't too bad..;), but I'd have to look and see what it is. Didn't know about the Bean books. Should check that out.

I tend more towards less 'politically correct' stuff; Turtledove, Stirling, Heinlein, Forstchen, Flint, etc. But someone I suspect may be AS, loved that book beyond normal

You mean "Alvin the Maker" saga. I've the first book from that series at home. I've two novels by Card - said book about Alvin and "Wyrms".
