I grew up watching my dad play adventure games (I was more than slightly terrible at puzzles). As time went on, I ended up leaving the games to him entirely. But now he's pretty much quit, and I'm the one who's interested in adventure games again. I thought games like Myst (I can't stand wandering around cluelessly in a game) had soured me off this genre forever, but playing Indigo Prophecy made me realize several things: that kind of focus on a cool story was exactly what I'd been looking for, that I'd enjoyed games like the 7th Guest before, and that suddenly the adventure games I'd told Amazon I wasn't interested in 12,000 times were looking very alluring, though sadly not qualifying for free shipping.
So, getting to the point... what do the rest of you think of adventure games?
(And do you have any recommendations?)
