seeking possible helpers
Hey, I'm gonna be going to ECPI soon to learn to animate...... What would be very helpful too is someone with experience in video game graphic designs...... Ok, so where am I going with this, you ask?
Were any of you fans of Pro Wrestling back when it actually didn't suck? Before it became lame and cheesey and watered down and mainstreamed? Think Attitude era WWE, ECW before McMahon owned them.
Are any of you fans of MK or tekken? Do you like violence, sex, and controversy? Well, my idea is to use very life-like animation, so as to look indistinguishable from reality. Combatants will come from all over the world, practicing many different fighting arts and hailing from all geographic cultures and regions. Like in ECW, they'll each have very defined characters, but not over-the-top cheesey "boogey man" types of characters, mostly street personalities and such, ranging from the heroes, anti-heroes, gang members, prison cons, assassins, escape mental patients and psychoes, outlaws, even a few Islamic extremists. Cocky, charismatic characters like in wrestling... There will be good guys (faces) and bad guys (heels), but like in wrestling, they can often be interchangeable. A face can turn heel, or a heel can turn face.
But. the arena will look nothing like a wrestling arena. It will look like an old dingy shaolin underground dungeon with an arena in the middle of it. In the middle of the open arena will be a yellow-stone yin-yang which will be the ring. But they can fight outside the ring (just like a pro wrestler can fight outside the wrestling ring). There are no pinfalls or count-outs, this is literally last man standing rules. Matches can be won in the following ways:
1. Knock out- competitor is knocked out to a 10 count without opponent interfering (must be in the ring to count)
2. submissions - must also be in the ring to count. If theyr out of the ring, they'll just have to tough it out until they can reach the ring.
3. stoppage- ref stops the fight due to injury that renders fighter useless
4. disqualification- does not count if the ref doesn't see it (like in wrestling), weapons are only allowed in the hard core division, and even then only melee weapons.
5. Death- if one fighter kills another fighter in a match. I will use great discretion and judgement upon who to kill off, when to kill them off, and how to do it. Because I know better than wasting a comodity when I get one. But if done right, the sheer brutality could boost ratings.
There are 4 title belt divisions, called for by the material of their strap which signifies that status of the belts. In order from lowest to highest they are:
1. Steel division- hardcore division- steel belt
2. bronze division- tag team- bronze belts
3. silver division- house championship (mid-card belt)- silver belt
4. Gold division- world championship- gold belt
All divisions will be made to look prestigeous, even lower card divisions, I know in WWE they make the undercards look like under-appreciated crap. All these divisions will be made to look strong, and competitors can rise up the divisions if theyr demand pushes them up. I will keep a polling on who'se over through a poll system on a seperate web-site somewhere once I get this project up and running. It will have a few highly controversial angles and characters, such as islamic extremist trio and a tag team of skinheads, but the way I see it is it's fiction, if NYPD blue can put stuff like that on then what's the difference in doing it here? It's not real, and I plan on booking storylines within good tastes, so uber heels like that may sometimes win battles to build tension in rivalries, but they'll never win their wars, in the ring...

Oh yeah, and the fighting won't look as fake or as choreographed as in wrestling, it'll look more realistic, but it will still follow a back-and-forth "keep people on the edge of their seats" format. It'll actually look brutal as hell, yet strangely artistic in seeing the various differing fighting arts clash against one another. I wanna use a video game similator to help put the actual matches together, so I can just patch over it.
