Well I was wondering this since when I was younger, as I rarely spoke to my peers, and when I did, it was rather awkward or pedantic, teachers and my parents thought that I was shy, but I knew that it was in part due to not knowing how to maintain conversation and in part due to the fact that I didn't care for a number of my peers. (This is both before and after my AS diagnosis, by the way.)
Even though most of my friends were/are shy, the fact that people had mistaken me for being shy frustrated me a lot--kind of like if someone said that you were obsessed with trains, when you clearly were obsessed with cars. This doesn't bother me anymore, but it used to, so I was just curious about how shy you are IRL.
I was called shy all my life.
I only really had aspergers. But I voted yes because, even talking to people, sometimes I find it hard to discuss certain subjects.
