my 16 year old aspie is slated to go back to the district high school for one class....this is supposed to mark the beginning of his transition back to the district and out of the therapeutic school he's in.......... i'm frankly terrified ! when son saw the crowds at the school, he started becoming anxious.....oh my......i mentioned son's difficulties with crowds to the asst principal
( who's supposed to be son's contact person within the school), and he only said that everyone in the halls is walking with a purpose, and that son wouldn't have any problems :?: I'm thinking in my head, WTF ? havent' you ever dealt with someone who's afraid of crowds ? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa

I really think that district personnel are purposely supposed to minimize problems.

Does your son have any friends at school, from before he went to the therapeutic school?

Maybe you can help him adapt by taking him somewhere crowded (mall, airport, etc.) to mimic what he will deal with at school.

I really feel for him. I worry about this type of things with my son as well.

he won't go to the mall. even when it's not crowded. ....no airport close by.......he does have friends there, but he'll only be going for one class in the a.m...... he's been instructed that he's to go straight to his homeroom, and then straight to class. not really anytime to hang out with his friends.

Can one of his friends walk with him between classes?

until he adapts

If he has an iep you can get it put in there that he shall be excused from class 4 minutes early to gather up his belongings and head to the next class before students are out in the halls. Alot of schools do that for children who have say, come out as gay, and fear they'll get beat up because of it.

Anything more than 4 minutes is pushing it though. And you might have to fight with a teacher or two who claims they like to teach right until the bell - very few actually do that, and the ones that do usually only do it occasiionally.

not much respect here for that assistant person. He should have been more compassionate. Fight, fight fight!
