Who doesn't like a little alliteration?

Umm. I started writing this because, well I don't exactly remember why. Now I don't think I have anything to say. I will continue on anyway.

This is my first post. I found this site a couple days ago and have been voraciously lurking ever since. I wanted the title of this thread to be: Enthusiastic Lurker Takes Tentative Transitional Step Towards Preliminary Participatory Posting. It didn't fit...

When I first found this site I was going to post in this section the inevitable: "Do I have AS?" thread. Then I got distracted. After spending the last few days here reading obsessively though I don't think I care if I technically have it or not. This site is like disneyland for someone who was never really able to understand why they are the way they are and why no one else seems to be that way. In a way it almost feels like my whole life I have been running away from how I naturally was, or more likely, my whole post-pubescent life when I suddenly seemed to be acutely aware that the salve to these strange urges I was now having had something to do with this whole fitting-in thing. But after seeing so many of my "flaws" mirrored and amplified in other people here and realizing that the individual errors and issues that I had fought to suppress were actually part of a larger and more widespread human phenotype which on the whole I am quite happy to share in, it almost seems like the answer is as easy as turning around and running towards what I had been running away from for so long.

Maybe that was my reason for starting this thread.

oh and introducing myself. hi.

Thanks Izaak.

Is it Izaak as in in Isaac son of Abraham or is it Izaak as in I Zak, Me like Creative Syntax.

Just a stupid question that popped into my head.

A purposeful mispeling of the name Isaac. But it bears no relation to any religious icon, or any other syntactical declaration. It's just a name I think sounds "cool." As I am, 8)

ok. but i don't find it exactly transitional or preliminary, since that would have been the lurking stage, but you actually posted, so... you are no longer tentatively tiptoeing, as your timid transitional lurking has lurched into fully propelled proactive participatory posting

Maybe I got carried away a little bit. Preliminary was a poor choice as it was most certainly liminary in nature. I will stand my ground though on Tentative and Transitional. Even though there is a very binary distinction between posting/not-posting, the first post can still certainly be a form of tentative tiptoeing - I definitely stared at it long enough before pressing submit to qualify for that distinction. And as far as Transitional goes, I think a good analogy (or a completely horrible one) is human life and abortion. The binary black/white distinction is: before conception- no human being; after conception- fully formed and fully enfranchised personhood. The other side of the argument is that becoming a person (or a proactive participatory poster) is a process of many steps and a lot of time, including conception itself which is actually a messy and protracted process. I think that I tend to think that what defines a person from a lump of organic goo is not simply a few cells with a full and distinct compliment of 46 human chromosomes but the continual process of transitioning into a fuller more robust human being (or proactive participatory poster). I am by no means certain of this, (the human life part) just deeply fascinated by less than absolute nature of humanity.

Maybe that wasn't the most appropriate analogy but I saw a chance to work a topic that I have far more opinions on than outlets in which to opine into the conversation and I took it.

i like you.
but i still do not conceed transitional.
i think it's clear you are not one of those namby-pamby babies, as you have sprung on the scene rather athena-like.

you sir, are a definitive baby.
