When I was a kid and a teenager, I had intense obsessions. I thought about them all the time and couldn't wait to get back to them. Everything else was a distraction.

I'm no longer like that. I think it's because I have other responsibilities now, and also because I'm more socially aware and need people more than I used to. But sometimes I wish I could go back in time. Some days I do lose myself to an interest and it feels amazing, but it's not like before. I still have intense interests, but not obsessions.

Do you find your obsessions fading off as you get older?

I am currently a teenager and I am finding that the older I get, the more intense the interests become. Not the other way around. I guess since I have less to do these days, I have more free time to become engrossed in something. I find that the older I get, the more I learn, so the more I have to be obsessed about.
I love having obsessions, though, it's an incredible feeling to be so interested in something, that nothing else at the time matters...it's just you and one other thing. I love waking up in the morning and the first thing that comes to mind is something related to an obsession. I hope they never "fade off".

My obsessiveness hasn't really gone away as I've gotten older, but I've always gone through cycles of obsessive and more well-rounded behaviour. Often after I get bored with a former obsession I become "normal" for a while until I begin focussing all my energy on a new thing.

Some of my obsessions have been counterproductive (e.g. computer games), but others have been very helpful (e.g. certain study topics). I don't like to talk about them though, or even reveal that I have them. Instead I just try to act normal around people and isolate myself at every opportunity so that I can focus on whatever it is that has consumed me. No-one who knows me in real life, not even my family, knows how obsessive I've been about certain things...

I am currently into a lot of different things. I will read books on subjects of interest. I think my obsessions have greatly lessened in intensity over time.
