I went to my family doctor, who I've seen for the first time today. I only go to specialists, like for my allergies.
I went in, and it only lasted twenty minutes. He tried to give me Zoloft, and refered me to a 'councler'. I've already talked to my school councler. At age 14, he said it would be rare for them to miss Aspergers until this age. I don't talk to my parents about anything, and I live with my dad. HE has Aspergers, and was diagnosed when I was ten. -_-
Though, he didn't even let me talk, and only listened to my mother...who I havn't seen since I was ten. I'd like to talk to a doctor who will actually listen.
What type of doctor diagnosed you?

Haha, your Mom is a doctor? Lucky...I'd be asking her all types of information about everything.

Dr Benda Ridley a child psychiatrist in 1961. She had not heard of Aspergers but was well acquainted with autism

No docs, just me. Given the currrent state of ASD understanding, and diagnostic standards, that will do.

self-dx: August 2004
AS assessment at local autism center: July 2005 (not an official dx though)
official dx from PsyD: March 2007

But then there were also professionals who disagreed prior to my assessment and diagnosis: 2 psychiatrists (with no specialty in autism and one was in fact a resident fresh out of medschool), 1 child psychologist (with no autism specialty), and 1 psychotherapist with a specialty in Personality Disorders. Each of whom felt they were capable of diagnosing an ASC.

The woman who ended up dxing me was not experienced with ASCs either, but she closely followed the recommendations of the autism assessment I had received earlier (which was very thorough) and of course following the DSM. She is an ex-colleague of my mother's whom my mother respects very much and thinks is an excellent diagnostician. She was very willing to listen to me, which I really liked.

A friend told me a couple of years ago that her mom got the impression that I might have AS. So I went on the internet and looked for information about it. It all started to click. It was like finally finding out that I'm not alone. I read more and more about it and it all made more and more sense. I still don't have an official diagnosis, but I'm going to see a psychiatrist or somesuch.

Self-diagnosis. I´m a doctor. When I was a medical student, my classmates gave me the same diagnosis on my last day in the university.

I had a history of depression and was prescribed Prozac on several occasions. Later on in life I was sent to see on various occasions two psychiatric nurses, a psychiatrist and two psychologists. On the last occasion a psychologist had the insight to spot I was Asperger.

I must admit I have had some very caring doctors who tried to sort me out but my generation missed out on treatment for Asperger Syndrome as it had barely been invented :) .

l33t or 1337 - or even possibly 31337 are all variations on the word elite. It's from an internet sub-culture. But, has been widly distributed in verbal vocabularies.

Quote:
Initially, the word leet was used as an adjective, to primarily describe the behavior or accomplishments of others in the community. In that usage, Leet generally carries the same meaning when referring to either the game prowess or, in original usage, hacking expertise of another person. From adjective form its use then expanded to include use as an expletive in reaction to a demonstration of the former qualities.

See the Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet .

EDIT: Wikipedia article describes the word l33t as an 'expletive' when it is used as an adjective. There is nothing vulgar about l33t at all, so I find this puzzling.
