This is an article about those 'mosquito' devices, used to disperse teenagers and torture autistic people. I hope the ban happens, not so much for the teenagers human rights, but for mine! What do you guys think?

I did not know that people in younger then 20 had an ability to head high pitched sounds more then people older.

I am 25, so I guess the divice would not work on me. Since that is the case I am not bothered by this device, but I will admit that having such a device is pretty wrong. I cant beleive the gap between generations continues to expand and even causes a bit of hatred towards the young and old.

Actually, it isn't everyone. Some older peeps can hear it too, and not ALL younger people can.

I agree, that thing should be illegal.

I have actually posted on the message board on the Beeb about this subject because I feel strongly about it. The mosquitos actually make me nauseous, dizzy and I sometimes collapse in pain because of the noise. If anyone else feels strongly about this, make sure you post on the subject too (you don't necessarily have to be in England.).

I wrote to my local shop to ask them to take it down. These things need to be outlawed.

While they're at it, they should also ban those super loud thumpin-bass car stereos... I can feel the effects of those things from about a half mile away, even when I can't hear em...

if they dont ban them then they are causing noise pollution and thats illegal too. In retaliation kids will start carrying their own sonic devices at a frequency all people can hear and there would be little argument against it.

In case of Sonic Attack on your district, follow these rules.....

If you are making love it is imperative to bring all bodies to orgasm
simultaneously
Do not waste time blocking your ears.
Do not waste time seeking a soundproof shelter.
Try to get as far away from the sonic source as possible,
but do not panic.....

Use your wheels. It is what they are for.
Small babies may be placed inside the special cocoons,
which should be left if possible, in a shelter.
Do not attempt to use your own limbs.
If no wheels are available, metal, not organic, limbs
should be employed whenever possible.....

Remember, in the case of Sonic Attack, Survival means every man for himself.
Statistically more people survive if they think only of themselves.
Do not attempt to rescue friends, relatives, loved ones.
You have only a few seconds to escape.
Use those seconds sensibly or you will inevitably die.
Do not panic.
Think only of yourself....

These are the first signs of Sonic Attack:
You will notice small objects, such as ornaments, oscillating.
You will notice a vibration in your diaphragm.
You will hear a distant hissing in your ears.
You will feel dizzy.
You will feel the need to vomit.
There will be bleeding from orifices.
There will be an ache in the pelvic region.
You may be subject to fits of hysterical shouting, or even laughter.

These are all sign of imminent Sonic destruction.
Your only real protection is flight.
If you are less than ten years old, then remain in your shelter and use
your cocoon.
But remember:
You can help no-one else, No-one else, No-one else......

they are not used to torture autistics, they didnt research them enough probably.
Am think they should definitely be banned because am have been past the same sort of device, that the RSPB sells [dad bought it to keep cats and others out of one part of the garden],they cause extreme inner crippling, like electric shock, head feels like it's going to explode, everything inside seizes up,luckily those ones go off after a certain amount of time, not sure if the mosquito ones do.

The national autistic society should get involved and fight them as well, people always made it out that they just keep children away
when they can also affect autistics of any age.

Perhaps there should be a map, that people can add all the shops and places, that use mosquitos,so they can be easily avoided.

I've never run across one of these, but I'm 28 and I can hear dog whistles, so probably there are a significant number of adults who would find this type of noise irritating. Plus its just an irresponsible tactic. If I ran across one of these as a teenager I would have felt pretty insulted.

I've never even heard of those. Although, where I live if someone using one of those would probably wind up getting shot, and even better the shooter wouldn't go to jail because it would be considered self defense. 8) Or the the owner of the device wasn't there someone would just shoot the thing.

I can just Imagen a Mother completely unaware of such a device and wondering why her small child is going nuts!

And threatening to punish the kid when they get home.

Fortunately we don't have that sort of thing here in the States. I feel sorry for you guys in the UK.

It makes me wonder how I'd fare if exposed to a mosquito. I used to be really sensitive to sound (and texture) but I'm not as supersensitive anymore. Except, maybe, for texture and taste of food.
