I do. A lot. I answer, I mock, I go into depth with myself. I think maybe it's just the need to vocalize, and being the recluse that I am well...no one else is around to talk to heh. I'll go back and forth between speaking out loud and thinking inside my head. As a matter of fact, vocalizing my thoughts to myself really helps me think...

Which is when I'm mostly doing it, when I'm analyzing something. Anyone else with this same habit?

Very rarely usually, but I have done it more lately due to some extremely stressful moments.

Constantly (only in private!). Sometimes it's not real words, just gibberish, but tone of the "words" would make my meaning clear if anybody ever heard me.

All the time. I'm either just talking, or repeating things I heard from TV, or working on one of my acts (for a club I'm in), but I'm always talking to myself.

All of the time!! ! Woe to the NT woman that meets me! lol Strange, how it is especially difficult to talk to others, but talking to oneself is almost second nature...I guess perhaps aspies know themselves better and are more comfortable with themselves by themselves?

i do it too.... i read a theory somewhere that this may be due to a lack of communication paths between the brain's two hemispheres. Since each hemisphere has it's own ear, using the voice is yet another possible path that can be used.

Good point. I'm glad I do it though...it really helps me keep my speech sharpened. I have somewhat of an obsession with words, I always have to know what they mean and how to pronounce them, and where they should fit into a sentence. I incorporate any word I pick up into my speech, and seem to practice my eloquence by conversing with myself.

Maybe that has something to do with it, or maybe that's just me.

I have no one to talk to, so I talk to myself.

Quite a bit. Sometimes I feel the need to voice my thoughts vocally so I can sort them out. Other times I like to make comments out loud about something I read on the internet. Sometimes I get caught, and I say I was talking to the computer, lol.

Only in private. I used to only use "I", but sometimes "we" slips in its place. It's weird!

Omfg I know what you mean! Often when I'm talking to myself, I'll address myself as a different person, or as a culmination of people. Split personality?

Interesting, with me, I call myself "You" as if I were talking to somebody else.
