I have the basic version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. Is there a way to edit documents in it?

There's a job application on-line that's a .PDF but my printer is broken. I'll fill it out and bring it to Staples or whatever and print it out after I fill out the .PDF.

No. The clue is in the name. :)

If the file has been structured as a form, you may be able to fill in the fields and save it. I've had ones that said you could do that, but then didn't work.

In theory, you may be able to fill it in, print to PostScript, then take that to somewhere with a printer. Maybe.

you need the full version of Acrobat to edit. The whole premise of pdf files is to have a universally-accessible document that can't be edited..

there are some 3rd party programs that purport to be able to edit pdf files. Try Sourceforge, Nonags, or just google 'pdf editor'...

You can highlight, and copy text from a PDF file, and then paste that into a word processor, but you will also lose formatting in the process. You will also lose any graphics from the PDF file. You may possibly be able to take screenshots of the graphics files, edit them in a photo editing program, and then embed them in a word processing document, however you will not be able to do this if the image file is layered over with text.

if you have adobe illustrator, you can open and edit pdf files in there.

You can try importing into something like open office, then print to postscript/PDF. Looks like you need an extension to add PDF importing.

i got something that will convert any pdf to word

the only trouble is
the document may be pictures
if it is you can tell with new pdf, adobe acrobat whatever it is, is free. just update it
because you can't copy words it'll just click a big portion as an image
even though you can highlight and copy paste words
it never paste well, that's why a converter is the best way to go

from anything to pdf, i suggest primopdf, it's free and it's awesome
it functions like a printer basically, so even if you have no printer hooked up, you go to print file and it will show up under printers
i've had classes we take lil quizes online, and it would let you print what you did but not save it
so, you print it like that and really you are saving it as a pdf file. they look really good too

i also had a class the teacher gave pdf assignments and i would convert them to word so i could type right in
but they kept it locked from conversion..... haha, yeah right
it turned out one assignment was an image of something and had typed over various portions to hide the original words (it was no help, i don't cheat anyway)
in that situation i could notice it after because when i zoomed in the image got blurry on pdf but the things that were typed remained clear
that is another quick way to tell if it's an image or if it's from text or something
zoom in,..the words stay clear
you can check under properties but if somebody paste the image in word and converts it, it'll say converted from word but won't say if it is text

but i think a free adobe pdf update would be fine
you can highlight and copy the words
and you can copy the images too

most scanned things look off balance too
