Are all AS religious?

Why do so many AS revolt against the idea that their condition is based in the brain, and is caused by brain dysfunction? Why do they think that it could not possibly be caused by chemical imabalances? That it can't be corrected?

The research is fairly new I suppose, so maybe people just haven't caught on. But I wonder how any AS could say that they just are that way, without any real, science-based reason.

(ps, I am religious, but I believe that God is a God of science.)

AS being caused by basic neurology rather than chemical imbalance does not mean "god" made it, it just means it's hard-wired into the brain!

And no, all AS people are not religious. I am an atheist.

i have my own self-invented religion based upon a plaster statue that sits in my bedroom, but were it not for theWinged Gnome Goddess, I would most likely be an athiest.

I am Lutheran, and I feel that God loves everyone, and is very forgiving.

And I believe that hell is only for the worst of the worst (i.e. Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, etc.)

I will say that my syndrome is a consequence of a natural/biological
mishap. On the other hand, Bekkles' remarks tend to suggest that
autism spectrum disorders should be "curable". To me, that comes
too close to mind-control and takes away the effort that persons with
autism make in pursuing their recovery.

Religiously speaking, I happen to be an Anglican.

I know a few atheist Aspergarians, so no, not all ASDs are religious.

I myself am Methodist...I'm sort of an ex-ex-Christian since my family had stopped going to church for about a decade when I was in Intermediate School (grades 5-6), but about a year and a half ago my parents started going to church again (a country church headed by the husband of one of my former teachers), and I decided to go with them. I feel I need faith, and I actually look forward to church every Sunday.

I'm a Buddhist, so I think being born with AS could be a form of Karma. Ultimately, there's a science to the autism spectrum though.

Not to offend, but it seems many Christians believe that God has given them some challenge for a greater purpose. I suppose as long as this gets them through it, it's not a negative thing. I only have issues when religion inhibits common sense and the advancing of medical science.

Some of us are religious, some of us aren't. I love my Saviour, Jesus Christ. Last year Time magazine ran an article about what kind of brains are religious and had a test to predict your religiosity. I took the test and found out I should be an athiest!

I don't think so. The brain is an interesting thing. You can consciously make the effort to improve it, but I personally would rather take certain steps just to help that recovery by providing my brain with the things it needs to rebuild itself. I don't want to still be socially awkward when I'm 40 - I find it stressful, and it makes me feel like I don't want to live. It makes it hard for me - it is tiring. I just want to live my life being free to do what I WANT TO DO, not being handicapped as it were by AS, which prevents me from doing things. I want to go and talk to that person, he/she looks nice - but no, I can't because I don't know what to say - I have AS, which = few social skills.

I want to connect with another person. but I can't, because there's a pillar in my way. It's called AS.

i'll turn 40 on sunday.... still awkward, still trying not to, still failling, still trying to convince myself i should stop trying cause it's hopeless....

About religion, i beleive in a God, i don't beleive in religions, they're nothing else than yet another mean of mass control where NTs "play the game" (politic and charisma) to get higher in the hiearchy and get famous! yet another "groupie" behaviour! About karma and challenge, if this is true, i'm really really really eager to see the prize i win (or at least, to be informed of what is the soooooo awful thing did i do to deserve that fate?) ! !

I am anti-cure and an Atheist.

I believe in science...am not religious. I don't believe that ASD's were "given" to us by a god...I believe it's all to do with brain wiring and genetics.
To answer the question...no, not all aspies are religious...I am living proof.

I came to this conclusion from reading a lot and analyzing the alternatives.
