Here is a link to the article. Read the whole article but pay special attention to the 9th and 10th paragraphs.

Let this sink in while remembering all the denials made by US government regarding any links between ASD and mercury containing vaccines. If you have young children think long and hard before you put them at risk. If you are going to give your children thimerosal containing shots please don't give them more than one at a time. For the love of god have the sense to space them out as far apart as possible.

This is what I sent to the NIH when they were asking for information regarding autism:
I am a former food process engineer who believes, because recent studies have implicated genes which code for glutamate synapses in ASD, we should investigate the effects of both INGESTED and INJECTED excitatory free amino acids (glutamic acid and aspartic acid) on children with these "autism genes".
If excitatory free amino acids affect ASD children, it would explain both the impact of GF-CF diets AND a vaccine link. Vaccines have free glutamic acid added to preserve the virus. It is found in extremely high amounts in processed wheat and dairy products " so much so that food manufacturers use these two items routinely to produce free glutamic acid in foods but with a "clean label".
Consequently, a child may not improve on a GF-CF diet alone, because it doesn"t limit all potential sources of free glutamic acid " like soy. Children are tested at birth for PKU and phenylalanine is limited until the brain is hardwired by the age of 7. Why not treat the predisposition for autism similarly and limit the glutamic and aspartic amino acids in the diets of children with autism genes?
ASD also includes errors of metabolism for sulfur containing amino acids " like cysteine. Cysteine is converted to taurine and glutathione by the liver. Taurine regulates heartbeat and osmotic balance as well as bile production and was found to be low after a seizure. In ASD, symptoms include arrhythmias, digestive disorders and a high rate of epilepsy " suggesting that taurine production may be compromised. Glutathione levels are also lower in ASD leading one to conclude that possibly, cysteine metabolism may be responsible for the myriad and seemingly unrelated additional symptoms of ASD. It should be noted that glutamate interferes with the handling of cysteine. When cysteine metabolism is compromised, homocysteine levels may increase. The lower levels of glutathione may put ASD individuals at risk of mercury poisoning, since glutathione helps eliminates mercury from the body.
It should be noted that the NMDA receptors that respond to both glutamate and aspartate are found in the amygdala - part of the limbic system involved in the perception of taste and smell as well as fear. Activating the amygdala in ASD, causes gaze avoidance. ASD children may also over-react to smells and tastes and face to face encounters can overwhelm them with fear. Limiting excitatory amino acids that target the amygdala may help.
Japan consumes more MSG, and fish (a dietary source of mercury) than nearly any other country. Compared to the amount of mercury consumed in fish and the amount of MSG consumed in the diet, the MMR contribution was probably small compared to a typical Japanese diet. In Japan, the MMR vaccine was stopped in 1993. Autism rates still increased. Perhaps in Japan, the diet plays more of a role in autism than the vaccines. Children from other countries with a lower consumption of fish and MSG may find a stronger correlation between vaccines and autism.
New research studies into ASD should include people who are sensitive to the food additives MSG and aspartame. MSG-sensitive persons have reported a distinct lessening of symptoms by using taurine, ibuprofen, CoQ10, Vitamins B6 and B12, sugar, foods high in butyric acid " like butter, and Magnesium. Perhaps they share some of the same genes that predispose a child to ASD. New treatment studies should look into these easily available, inexpensive and relatively safe compounds.
Based on what I have observed, here are my recommendations:

1. Treatment of ASD?
REMOVAL of excitatory amino acids (glutamate, aspartate) from VACCINES.
Glutamate and aspartate restricted diet (similar to treatment for PKU) in addition to GF/CF diet.
Supplementation of taurine, glutathione, vitamins B6, C, magnesium, CoQ10.
Increased carbohydrate
Labeling of free glutamic and aspartic acid on food labels.
Glutamate blockers, anti-histamines and leukotriene blockers for children already suffering or getting vaccinated
We should calm their surroundings, encourage quiet tasks and less-threatening contact to enhance communication. We need to give them space and not overwhelm them.

2. Diagnosis of ASD?
Test for autism genes preferably AT BIRTH like PKU
Tests for aspartic acid, glutamic acid, glutathione, taurine, cysteine, homocysteine

3. Risk factors for ASD?
Autism Genes
Sensitivity to excitatory amino acids,
Low taurine, low glutathione
Sulfite Sensitivity
Vaccination with glutamic acid as a preservative
Damage to the microglia
Overactive immune system
"Junk food" diet
Aspartame in medications or vitamins or foods Multiple food allergy

4. Biology of ASD?
Excess CNS sensitivity,
Inability to handle sulfur-containing amino acids,
Overactive immune response " linked to Nerve Growth Factor

I think your two posts are grossly irresponsible pseudo-scientific clap-trap, more suited to the Autism Squeeks forum. Please stick to burger manufacturing process design and leave the science to scientists. There is no scientificly proven Thimerosal link. The US government has accepted no such link. As for the rest...It's not worth the effort of responding.

Good, I'm glad you're not responding to anything else on this thread.

Santabarian, thank you for posting this article. We know plenty of families who are using the GFCF diet, B6, Magnesium, MB12 and many other treatments on their kids. None of it is a cure, but some of this stuff helps to lesson symptoms and comorbids.

P.S., "burger manufacturing process design" may not be such a bad career considering Temple Grandin designs manufacturing process plants for cows to be processed into burgers.

That website is totally unrealiable. David Kirby is a devotee to both Andrew Wakefield and the Geiers (especially the latter) and has the same amount of journalistic "talent" as Dan Olmsted.

Kirby will print anything he bloody well wants as long as it supports what he's written in that book of his. Talking of shills........

Visions of Kirby, the Geiers and Wakefield with a lab full of Autistic kids in cages, John Best as the floor sweeper with an Autism Reeks camera crew making a documentary to support a fundraising for the final solution...

The interesting thing here is that the child in the case the government conceded did not, in fact, have an autism spectrum diagnosis. So it would be more than somewhat inaccurate to say that this proves anything.

Yes, ANC, it was a mitochondrial disorder. see www.leftbrainrightbrain.co.uk . Like I said an ignorant and irresponsible post

First, that was NOT an article. That was an op-ed piece. In an ARTICLE, it is necessary to ANSWER questions, not simply pose more questions, as if all questions were created equal.

Secondly, there's already been a thread on this. It's been pretty thoroughly debunked - what happened was that the government lawyer conceded that the disorder induced in this instance, which was NOT autism, may have been due to a bad batch of vaccine. The editorialist here, David Kirby, decided to conflate that with his own pet theories (themselves long discredited) to come up with the above headline.

Third, a public health researcher who is associated with the Huffington Post has already posted a rebuttal of the entire column, here.

Read in good health, and please quit cluttering up the threads with garbage about phlogiston chemistry, bloodletting as a medical procedure, and thimerosal/autism links.

You forgot to mention bad pixies, humours and the Roswell Incident [It was a cover-up of an explosion at the Roswell Thimerosal mine]

I'm glad this information is coming out. A CDC employee examined thimerosal and found that children receiving higher amounts of thimerosal were more likely to be autistic. Other studies have found that mothers' of autistics ate more seafood, received more RhoGam shots, and had more amalgam fillings - all sources of mercury exposure. One scientific paper, based on 181 references, hypothesizes that autism may be a novel form of mercury poisoning based on the high mercury exposures of autistics, the reduced ability of autistics to get rid of mercury, and the similarity of symptoms. Mercury is believed to cause developmental delay, speech difficulties, over or under sensitivity to light, sound, or touch, poor short-term memory, visual disturbances, and a bunch of other problems commonly found in autistics.

zendel, Sorry to put this so bluntly but www.researchautism.net [Probably the most reliable source of mainstream, thoroughly evaluated, autism information on the net], says your talking sh*t.

Of course the DAN website is going to say that.

But it's still bullsh*t.

That seemed like a good site until I clicked on their interventions. They claim strong evidence for anti-psychotics, anti-depressants, and behavioral therapy to treat autism but no evidence for nutritional interventions despite over 20 studies finding it effective. I do NOT think autistics are suffering from depression due to being psychotic. IMO, psychiatric drugs should NEVER be used to attempt to treat autism. I wonder if the pharamceutical companies set up this organization. You have to be wary of any site that promotes psychiatric drugs and therapy over safer, effective, non-patentable supplements.

I noticed after clicking their link on the right side of their home page under latest news was "US to award vaccine damage payment" I clicked the link and I got another article that confirms the original article by the OP.

US to award vaccine damage payment - Confirmed
From http://www.sundayherald.com/news/herald ... ayment.php

"A DECISION by the US government to award compensation under its vaccine damage programme to a child diagnosed with symptoms of autism has been hailed as "unprecedented" by campaigners.

The claim is one of nearly 5000 cases currently pending in the American vaccine "court", which allege that mercury-containing vaccines resulted in autism.

Washington-based attorney Jim Moody, one of the lawyers involved in the cases, told the Sunday Herald the case was scheduled to go to trial in May, but "to everyone's surprise" the government conceded liability.

It is also significant they conceded it was causing autism, they could have just said vaccines caused injury or been vague," he said. "Never before has our government linked vaccines to autism..."

For those wondering why the US government is paying compensation instead of the drug companies that made the vaccine, it is because the drug companies got Congress to pass a law exempting them from any harm caused by their vaccines. A great deal for the drug companies - they reap the profits from their vaccines but don't have to pay any compensation to those who get sick or die because of them. If a judge finds that vaccines caused autism in the 5,000 other cases, US taxpayers will probably be the ones paying compensation. The US has already paid around $2 billion to the thousands of victims of vaccine damage even though payments to the approx. 1,000 people who died due to vaccines were capped at, I think, $250,000.

Big Pharma's dark secrets regarding vaccinations:

* No long term tests have ever been conducted on the after effects of vaccines, singly and in combination.

* Vaccines are tested for a short period against another vaccine, not a placebo.

* A community called Amish in the UK claim religious exemption from vaccines. It has been observed that they do not suffer from any autoimmune disorders. There are only 3 autistic children in the Amish community, against an expected 130. It was found upon enquiry that even these 3 have been vaccinated under various circumstances.

* Short term studies conducted by unbiased researchers have revealed that vaccinated children suffer more than their vaccinated counterparts. In many trials deaths, brain damage, neurological problems, infantile diabetes, Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS), a paralytic disease, severe allergies and intestinal disorders have been reported.

Doesn't matter. Zarathustra introduced me to an autism website that provided a link to another article that confirms the article by David Kirby.
