My dad at first told me to shut up complaining that I didn't have 20/20 vision (and was therefore not "perfect") because according to him very few people do, but then he perseverated on my vision, sometimes making fun of it in a good-natured way and sometimes in a ha-ha-I'm-physically-perfect-and-you're-not way, and once when a phone rang and I wasn't paying attention he said "You can't see and now you can't hear either." He empathized with the Nazis because they wanted a healthier, smarter, prettier, more perfect race and he seemed to want that too.
