I'm 14. I stim pretty often at school. Excited hand flapping, hand clapping, standing on my toes and walking on them. And sometimes i act soooo childish. Like pulling hair, hitting and have the hands up in the face on my friends. Somebody else doing this? How can i stop it?

I used to stim noticabley at school when I was younger. As i got older I learn't on my own, to modify them to something more socially accepted so that I would not get teased for it. For example, leg bouncing...fiddling with pens/pencils/rulers etc...drumming on desks/chair [may not be appropriate for class time though...only on breaks as it may be noisey]...twirling my hair. Maybe you could try this?

You don't have to stop stimming altogether because that will probably make you stressed or have an uncontrolable "stim explosion". [Both happened to me when I tried to stop before I thought of modifying].

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

I have had meltdowns where I would punch my bullies and hide in the bathroom for hours. It's been two years since I've done that (having milder meltdowns instead).

I tend to shake as a stim, and it drive people crazy. I haven't told them it's a stim for when I'm extremely stressed, so they just glare at me when I don't stop.

I have meltdowns at school if someone touches me and I don't expect it. I they let go, it's all right, but if they don't, I start screaming.

You would have a fit at my school then. Trying to get through the halls is like a torture chamber of touching, bumping into each other, etc.

I stim all the time at school, but I don't have tantrums, I hold that all in at school, it's for the best. I'm not sure wether the stims I do in school are considered socially acceptable, probably not. I tend to bite my finger nails, chew on the skin around my finger-nails, shake my legs or feet, rock back and forth or side to side, and some mild hand-flapping, among other things. For the most part people don't seem to pay much attention to it, which is good.

I also leg- bounced, but stopped that maybe a month ago. I looove hand flapping(i really don't wanna stop that) i also really enjoy toe walking. But i really want to stop acting so childish(like crawling on floors, hitting and pulling my friends hair). I wanna stop that as soon as possible. But i don't know how

I had a big fit of anger at my tutor in college and decided to leave and go somewhere else because I thought I might do it again and although I didn't really care, he did.

Ha ha, no, I haven't. I've never acted that way really :/. Though, with a lot of my friends, I'll see them in the hall and just give them a hug. Sometimes with certain friends both of of will randomly be in the hall and we'll see each other and hug each other and just jump up and down still hugging ha ha. That is only with my really random friends which is about 2 friends and they're both guys =P. I'm straight though ha ha.

I haven't had a tantrum in school since I was very young. Well I've never had one in secondary school.
But I have always stimmed in school, it's just a random thing that crops up often. But thankfully they're not too socially unacceptable but people sometimes get annoyed at my leg bouncing/shaking. And I am also childish at school and I don't care. I remember at the age of 13/14 me and two girls shouting "bogies" and "mucus" all dinner time while the older girls kept telling us to shut up.

Oh, yes, I used to have constant meltdowns at school up until 10th Grade and I usually keep the stimming to a minimum.
