Are you fascinated by the world of mafia? Mario Puzo's novels, Al Capone and stuff like that? I am interested in this topic at least for 11 years when I watched "The Untouchables" series in TV. Then I didn't have the Internet access so the only way to acquire some new knowledge was watching the adventures of brave Elliott Ness and his companions and borrowing books about famous mobsters in the library. One of my favourite books of all time is Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi.

I know that real mobsters are not like in films but I like reading about this subject.

Irulan --

you wanna read a great book about the mafia? Go get THE GOLD COAST by Nelson DeMille -- best book I've ever read

also, THE SICILIAN by Mario Puzo is an excellent book -- terrible movie -- but the book is great. & I know that you'll like a book called THE WESTIES by TJ English

I have problems with finding such books because majority of them weren't published here.

Since you're good at English, try ordering them from Amazon.

Real gangsters are frightening. They really have no respect for anyone.

The movie Once Upon a Time in America belongs on any list of classic mafia movies. It's actually about the Jewish-American mob, but is in every other way the same as Italian mob stories. (And ironically the main character is played by an Italian, Robert De Niro).

P.S. In Polski: http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dawno_temu_w_Ameryce :)

Thanks, I watched it but it was many years ago. Btw, not "in Polski" but "po polsku" - "in Polish"
