I'm thinking about playing American Football next year but I have a lack on confidence of my ability because my AS has historically led me to be passive. I want to play it for the social connections but im wondering if its the best sport for me.

Ps If you want to chat fell free to IM me.

I think it depends on the person.

My oldest son (now 21) was highly uncoordinated growing up -- played soccer, but nothing else. I don't think he ever played football growing up (which is social suicide, since we live in Pittsburgh -- Steelers country!). Now he's in college, and he plays casual pick-up games with friends, and totally enjoys it.

It could be really good to play football. It just should be with other like-minded guys who are doing this for fun, not a bunch of guys on steroids!

If you are large enough, go for it. There are rules and it is fun to be rough with no worries of hurting someone. Your team mates want to win, so they won't mess with your head too much. And belonging to a team is a great feeling, because you can depend on each other. Just don't mention AS to them.
