Sadly I'm not, but one of my close friends is... or used to be. He plays football (shudder) now, though. But hold your head up because band geeks are awesome people! ;) I am a geek too, but I come from a place that is commonly known as the physics labratory.

I was a band geek in middle school/high school. I quit when we got a new band director and he took all the fun out of it.

Yeah, orchestra geeks count. I've been playing my trombone since 5th grade (or about 5 1/4) years).

I... was a band geek. I played the oboe; I started on the flute, but they made me switch because they wanted an oboist in the band.

There are some people in my band that play multiple instruments. I won't be making any switches in my band since we still need the trombone players, or the tenor voice of the band. Some day, I want to learn how to play the piano or the clarinet; they both have good musical 'voices'.

I played tuba in middle school. Freshamn year I played tuba whole year. Took a break sophomore year (didn't like teacher, and was finding myself). New teacher junior year, switched to baritone for marching season. Quit by the time spring season rolled around and haven't gone baxk since. The new teacher just got out of college, and sucks at her job. Everyone still in band now is in thier so they can tell colleges. Also quit because I wanted to learn jazz tuba and she wouldn't let me join.

I was a band geek. In my final year of school, I played 1st clarinet in the orchestra, was the section leader of the clarinets in the symphonic wind ensemble, saxophone in the lower wind ensemble, saxophone in the big band, and violin in the string ensemble.
I am currently the principal clarinettist of my local orchestra, and I plan to audition for my universities ensembles as soon as I get over my terror of auditions.

That's awesome Who_am_I; my band teacher plays clarinet. The very first instrument was actually the violin; I quit because I wanted to do art lessons. In the fifth grade I decided to pick up the trombone because my dad plays, and so far I've never quit. I'm currently in the most advanced band at my school, and I've been practicing more than ever, since in the past couple years, or my 'younger' years of playing trombone, I never had much devotion to it and never practiced. I've been working my butt off ever since, and it's been worth it for the past few years. I LOVE playing in the band with my trombone.

Wow. I've played piano since I was nine (still do at 56), I played violin in my grammar school orchestra and clarinet in my high school band.

It served me well. When I went to college there was one year of mandatory ROTC. Part of the "training" was one period a week of drill, marching up and down a field. Since I could play a band instrument, I was recruited into the ROTC band which meant I never had to march, but got to sit inside the nice comfy theater-in-the-round and practice with the band instead.

A band geek in khaki green!

I was one of the queen band geeks when I was in high school, and I even went into Music Education for a year in university. However, I made my band geekliness translate into a different area of research now... but I still play in wind ensembles when I can.
