... and I'm going to my GP on Tuesday to get a diagnosis, o a referal to someone who can diagnose me. I was doing a bit of research and looking for a good place to get some advice (because I'm a bit nervous, and I haven't told my friends because think they're going to overreact and say I'm a hypochondriac) about what to expect when I go in to the doctors and that sort of thing.

I had a read through some of the threads already, and I like this place even if I'm not AS. :D

Hi Ben,

welcome to WP.

If you think your friends will overreact, then don't tell them. Seriously, it's not worth it. I lost friends after I told them about my dx...not saying it will definately happen to you though.
Anyway, good luck with the appt with your GP and I hope you enjoy posting here. :)

Hi Ben, welcome to WP.
Think about whether and how you want to approach your friends. Some of them might need to be approached a certain way. Think about what your connections are or how your friends act in general.
I have a friend with whom my main connection is music - I gave him some tracks from the Mozart and the Whale soundtrack, and when he liked them, I gave him the DVD to watch. Small steps.
And if you can't talk to your friends about it... are they going to be good, supportive friends as you work through it?

Well thank you all for your welcomes and support. I think it'll be fine, it'll only confim what I believe, or say that I got it wrong, but even so, it's going to b a bit nervewracking getting all of my thoughts out for the doctor to evaluate. :?
