Thank you everyone for being so welcoming. I have not been diagnosed with AS, but it's nice to be surrounded by similar people.
I had asked my aunt who is a child psychologist if she knew of any AS resources in the county and she said
Quote:
"Frankly, I do not see any signs of you having Asperger's. There are distinct features of the condition that I have never seen in you, fortunately. I would be shocked if you received such a diagnosis, and would deeply question anyone who would make such a diagnosis."
She then recommended that I look into obsessive compulsive, attention deficit disorder, bipolar, and Tourette's.
Does this mean that AS could not be a possibility? Or that maybe she's looking at the parts instead of the whole? I feel hurt by her quick dismissal. I am not very close with my aunt, but I do respect her professional opinion. I don't know what to do.
Edit: I would much rather be diagnosed with AS than OCD, ADD, bipolar, and Tourette's. Geesh.
