I was getting quite anxious about buying my first car. I considered getting a second hand one (having recently passed my test I thought it would be wiser to get something already used), but then a car I made an appointment to view in good condition with no problems had apparently previously suffered some damage (and the seller didn't tell me, I checked out his post history on the website). I tried to buy a new car, a sensible affordable little runaround, but when I went in the Nissan and other car showrooms all the male salesmen ignored me. So I went to another showroom, Saab, where a lovely guy said hello and asked me to wait a moment while he finished his phone call (he was the only salesman there).
By the time I'd been through the earlier experiences of getting stressed out about buying a possibly faulty second hand car, and getting stressed out by being ignored by rude male salemen, by the time the Saab salesman cheerfully said "Hello" I was simply relieved to be acknowledged and treated like a human being. So I bought a brand new car, which cost twice as much as I was originally planning to spend. And I'm very glad I did. It's really fun to drive, and it's a convertible and where I live the sun always shines, so it makes me smile.
Looking back now, I feel a bit silly to have been so needlessly anxious about the process, because it all worked out in the end, yes, it was a bit troublesome, and I am spending more money than planned, but my new car is ever so pretty. And fast.
