I have completed two chapters of my latest writing project. I've decided to ditch my old series for the time being, and try something a bit more imaginative. All I will say is that it is a post-apocalyptic science fantasy novel.

I doubt it.

Anyway, I've finished my third chapter.

Oh. Thanks.

I'm sorry I cannot be specific about what my project is about, I am paranoid about plagiarism. But it is an unusual twist on post-apocalyptic science fiction that has been done really only once, and then it got pretty badly done.

OK then

Can you give any other clues?

If not, good luck with it anyway.

hmm post-apocalyptic science fantasy novel, is it going to be like part 2 of Water World?
I was thinking it was pretty badly done.

It sounds cool, I've always liked the idea of Post-Apocalyptic Novels

I must confess that when spudnik asked me if I was doing part 2 of Waterworld, I told the literal truth: No, I wasn't doing a sequel to Waterworld.

However, this is a post-global flooding book. However, there are a number of tenents I have put down:

*The global flooding is not as high (and unrealistic) as it is in the film. However, sea levels are at their highest since the Ordovician Era, about between 450 and 500 millions years ago. Dry land is a scarce commodity, but enough of it exists so that people live, more or less comfortably, on the islands that remain. If you're wondering about overpopulation, you will have to read my book....

*This is a science fantasy book, but one grounded firmly in reality. In fact, instead of being Waterworld, I chose something that is more like a mix of Evangelion, Firefly, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

*Technology still exists, and the ability to make it and maintain it still exists. However, some, like genetic manipulation, is forbidden, and others, like wormhole technology, is legendary.

*Means of creating substitute resources for things such as paper and oil exist, so there aren't as many shortages as one will expect.

*The cause of global flooding is not what would be expected.

*My main characters are not heroes. You could call them adventurers, but they all have their own weaknesses and neuroses, and they are slow to act against their foe, partly because they do not know of that foe's existence.

Post-Apocalyptic stories are great, I actually liked Water World, since it had a good story and character development, but you really had to check your brain in at the door before seeing this movie, its is quite literally Road Warrior on Jet skis. I sort of put Post-Apocalyptic and badly done as a hint for Water World. It sounds like its going to be a great story

Well, I considered making it that sort of thing, but decided to make it a little less grotty than that. Also, less grim, at least at first.

Actually, now that I come to think of it, I think I saw the Waterworld stunt show at Universal Studios when I went there way back in '96.
