Hi,

I'm 27 years old and live in Vancouver, Canada. I am a Computer Science undergrad and I work in IT (I hear it's a popular vocation for aspies). It was only last week I found out what Apserber's Syndome is. I was reading a news article and it refered to Autism and Asperger's, at the time I only vaguely knew what Autism was and I had never heard of Asperger's. I decided to look it up and was shocked how well the description of Asperger's syndome fit me. Litterally all the symptoms fit perfectly, especially when I was younger.

On the one hand I'm a little upset that I've been struggling with this my whole life without knowing I had Asperger's, but on the other hand I'm kind of relieved there are others like me.

I'll try to get a professional diagnosis to see if I do in fact have AS soon, but right now I'm mainly in a information gathering phase. I thought this forum would be a good place to ask some questions.

And let me be the first to welcome you to the "Canadians who recently read about AS and are now convinced that they have it and are seeking a diagnosis while lurking on WP" club.

Yeah, there aren't many of us...

Welcome, vulcan80!

Take the Aspie Quiz, it's interesting - and maybe enlightening:

If you go for an evaluation, bring the info you find with you. I would have been misdiagnosed as ADHD if my mom didn't have the papers.

Very interesting quiz. Thanks.

Your Aspie score: 99 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 81 of 200
You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits

I had a lot of aspie traits that I grew out of over the years. Especially the ones that get me branded as rude or weird in the office ;)

Hahaha, I had to train myself to stop doing a lot of that stuff, too, but things still pop up now and again that get me in big trouble! :?
