not this one - yet

there's a forum where a lot of the members are really kind of snobs and the forum admins are real snobs. They know of my disabilities and have me under a microscope just waiting, biding their time waiting for me to screw up so they can say something snide.

There are lots of other sites that I can go to where they talk about the same stuff but I just can't seem to quit that one site.

Any suggestions?

If you don't like it there, just leave. Who cares? The people probably suck if they're making fun of your disability.

Do you have any friends there?

Just stop posting. Don't post a goodbye thread or anything like that, that indicates that you're still demanding their attention and is usually a fairly good sign that you'll return. Just stop.

I think Hector has it right Digger1. The most effective way for me to stop an active addiction is just to stop it cold. Maybe if you securely delete it from your PC and just stay away after that. Give it a try. :)

I wish I knew a way to block certain sites from my own browser, that might do the trick with some sites I keep revisiting. If you knew any way to do something like this, it might be worth trying out.

there was a post a few months ago on how to ban yourself from a forum by creating a txt document with your password in it and deleting it thus banning you from that forum. I can't find it. Any help?

if you go into the properties of your web browser there should be an option under security to block certain websites , the best method is to have someone else block the site and put a password that only they know to access the site.

if have a router,go to its own access home page-look for its address and password/username on google.
there will be a section in the routers info,to add any website address in that will be blocked everytime anyone who uses the network tries to access it,add the websites address in.
because it's a bit fiddly and not instant to get sorted out, might find that helps against being so quick to try, than just blocking it on the computer/browser itself.
Am have used this before-blocked a load of crap sites that staff at old home were wasting bandwith on,treated am like a criminal, was going to put it right anyway.

here's some screenshots on what it'd look like:

-logging in

blocking stuff.

password will probably be admin, though not sure for password.

If you're going to do this on another forum then my advice would be to get yourself banned.

Some will block you from viewing or posting on the boards.

If someone lacks the fortitude to not rejoin after getting intentionally banned I don't think there's any stopping them.

Delete your own account just pull the pin and do it
ask them to ban you and your IP so you can't go back
or if you want to go out with a bang give me some history and I'll craft you a ban worthy post heheheeh

Why does saying goodbye mean you will return?

A friend of mine who had been an Admin and a Moderator of a small board got pushed out when someone else came along that the board owner fancied; the object of the owner's interest could do no wrong, even when they did almost and when my friend challenged some of the more risky posts (due to possible legal and other consequences) he was made out to be in the wrong. It was all grossly unfair and he just very quietly disappeared. He didn't say goodbye or say why he went because he knew it was all so pointless.

Several people on the board miss him and he gave a lot of good input, but obviously, the object of the owner's desires won.

Not true, when I left Aspies For Freedom, I posted a goodbye post on another member's goodbye thread, we both left for the same reason, the thread was swiftly deleted however my account was not, but I have not to this day returned

to the OP, just leave the place, don't ever return, it is possible
