Almost nothing makes me cringe more than Televangelists. Don't these guys make you feel sick to your stomach? They claim that they believe in god and that they have seen visions of God. Also, they claim that they can heal you if you make donations of money to them. I've been seeing this "Peter Popoff" guy late at night on infomercials and he really makes me sick to my stomach. I just read on Wikipedia that he earns $500, 000 dollars a year from donations, and he drives a 2006 Porsche convertible worth $90,000.

I love televangelists. They are so full of BS that it just amazes me. It always reassures me of my tendency to be non-religious.

I've had the feeling for quite some time that most televangelists are Atheists who know a good racket when they see it.

I would much rather listen to the mendicant in the street reciting scriptures than the wasteful beings on TV who preach about money in the Name of the Lord.

I was utterly disgusted by one sermon on TV where the "preacher" kept saying "Send money, and HE will triple your amount and make you RICHER (in wealth)!" I wonder who this Jesus they speak of is because I've read no such thing in the bible.

I wonder if these televangelists are really atheists? Do you guys think so? What the hell would give a person the idea to start conning people for a living? I'd feel so awful about myself if I was one of these "televangelists". The people who actually make the donations aren't very bright people. I am lucky in that I can smell a gimmick from a mile away. The Televangelists themselves disturb me, but also the sum of money that gets donated to these idiots is ridiculous.

I joked with my family, who are Catholics, that I'm going to open up a Candle shop with pictures of the Saints to sell and set up shop in the middle of a Hispanic neighborhood.

Honestly, I could never do such a thing. Although I don't believe in a Hell, I'm sure one wouldbe created for me if I ever do such a thing. :?

This guy has to be my favorite televangelist, if only because someone matched his actions to Drowning Pool's "Bodies":

Oh, here's another one, this time with him using his coat as a baseball bat:

I remember Robert Tilton. That guy was hilarious. He was known for fraud, and his facial expressions.

Some guys spliced together some of his sermons, and made a video. They added farting sounds to be timed to his facial expressions.

Televangelists only confirm that agnosticism is the right choice for me. Joel Osteen seems to be the only one out there that even remotely practices what he preaches. I've watched his show a few times and found him to be interesting.

True, Joel Osteen seems to be a very decent man. I don't like the whole preaching for money etc. but he's definitely not a Pastor Hagee.

You know what's even worse, there are no mainline religious tv programs available in broadcast or cable television. All I get is either the prosperity gospel or the \ "social conservative" gospel.

The closest I could find was a few local Methodist churches who broadcast on TV, but I think they're more conservative than the other mainline denominations--yet not as conservative as the evangelicals.

And of course, the Catholics have their own network (EWTN).
