Like the title implies,

Ive been on WP for a couple of weeks now,
and ive noticed how (unsuprisingly) most of the members on here are an incredibly articulate, brilliant lot that seem to be fed up with being labelled as being ``different``.``antisocial`` or in the more extreme cases ``ret*d``.

Why should we keep enduring this?
I for one, am tired of being looked down upon by mainstream society when it should be the other way around.
Why not just unite and take action against the blatant ignorance thats plaguing the general populace?

If they wont understand , then we should make them.
We all have our individual talents and traits, using these to make our point come across seems to be the obvious choice.
We have the means to remake this world as we see fit.

Isnt it time?

An Internet forum isn't exactly proof-positive of someone's social prowess. Here on WP, there are no faces to deal with, no voices, no troubling stimuli. And it is always on your terms instead of someone else's. There is no forced interaction here.

It's just not the same. You'd be wrong to compare something like WoW or Second Life to the old-fashioned face-to-face human interaction.

in real life i do not tolerate labeling that is why i isolate.
i am feeling lonely yet when i weigh the pros and con,
i'd rather be safe than sorry.
my dad, i suspect has AS plus the obvious ADHD
growing up he was incorrigible.
neighbors would shun us, especially relatives so
i know what labeling does.
in my own life without him i have less degree of the
awkwardness he has, so i could hide under the guise of
being anti social. i still hate it that i don't do well socially
although oftentimes i daydream of having lots of friends
and being well liked by everyone.
still, i don't want the label...to hell with labels.
why can't people be more kind and accepting?

No matter what people do to try and prevent it...there will always be social stigma about EVERYTHING. It's not just with people with ASD's or even any kind of disabilities. It could be the girl who is really skinny naturally so is thought to have an eating disorder, or the guy who is short so is thought to, as some ignorant guys put it, "lack the balls to me a man"...or even people who care for the environment, so they are thought to be "smelly hippies".

By ignoring the stigma all together, you aren't surrendering to the people who call you rediculous things or being "weak", but you are saying that you don't care what they think and that they don't have any impact on your life and that you will keep succeeding no matter what they do to try and stop you from doing so.
There will always be people who call you things that offend you or that you don't agree with. The best way to get by isn't to try and stop it, but to work around it, or march on through it like a wounded soldier trying to stay in the war until the end.

Why endure social stigma? Because it's a part of life.

Enough said.

I make it a point not to fit in with my "peers" at college. I've actually had this philosophy since high school. They can label me however they want, but at least I'm an individual. :)

The bast antidepressant is an external substance called pepper spray, applied to the depressant rather than the depressed.
