When you interact with other people, do you think that they assume you're on the spectrum, or do they just assume you're quiet and quirky? Do you think it crosses their minds?

Most people I know don't know what AS is, so they assume I'm just a little quiet. If I happen to tell anybody, then they'll usually respond with "...oh, that makes so much sense!"

What about you?

People just think I am weird. I know this, because they usually don't hesitate to pronounce me so. :?

I don't tell people about AS... I don't know how I would say it without making it sound like a cop-out, like I'm trying to say I'm not responsible for my behavior because I may have this minor condition that practically no one has heard of...

It is apparent to others that there is something odd about me. Most people don't care though. Some people treat me like a fool. Others ask me lots of questions and get short answers.

I haven't told many ppl that I suspect I have AS, but the ones I have told, that are familiar with it, say, "Oh, yeah! That makes sense!" One friend that I told yesterday was asking me what I do that's Asperger-y. I hate getting asked that because it's such a vague question to me. But I tried to explain some, mostly focusing on stims. Most of the time I'm just weird. I've been told I was weird for years. Like since childhood.

The people who I've told or introduced the topic to, except one person, all agreed it made sense for me to posibly have AS. I imagine that I come off as odd, but I don't think that the people around me suspect AS simply because they don't know anything about it.

I'm a very chatty person, so people don't know that I'm on the spectrum.

someone three levels above me told me that I'm known as 'eccentric'. Not sure it was in a good way, either. Mostly I'm just weird to people. but then usually I'm in and out so fast doing my job, that they don't notice..

I'm the same way. I've told some of my friends and immediate family members, but I find it hard to phrase the fact that I have it without sounding like I need an excuse for how I act.
I think my condition (I hate calling it that) might be slightly apparent to others, but my therapist and family disagree. I mean, I've seen people with Asperger's where it's really obvious that something's up with them, but with me it's different.
I think people that just see me on the street, etc. won't know that anything's different, but once you talk to me for a while, you'll know that I'm kind of quirky.
For my friends that I have told, however, they say that it makes sense for me to have AS.

Most people I know still don't know what AS is, but they've commented on my stimming for years and asked (only half-seriously) if I was autistic. My answer was always "yeah, I think so - lil bit". Fortunately I found a niche in a profession in which being a little eccentric was often a plus; even so, my coworkers always thought of me as 'different', because I kept to myself and avoided socializing unless it was required by my employer.
