I absolutely hate Xaldin! He's the boss for the second visit to Beast's Castle BTW. I already tried some FAQs and they DID NOT help! Could someone who also plays KHII help me out here? Xaldin is the first boss I've truly had trouble with in this game.

Ah, Xaldin. Yes, he is a bit tricky.

Here's some tips:

*Avoid Drive forms. Otherwise, you'll turn into Anti-Sora. (It's more likely fighting an Organization XIII member)

*Do some grinding. It'll help. Optimise your armour and accessories while you're at it, and have plenty of healing items on hand.

*Don't forget that there is a good Reaction command allowing you to do a powerful Jump attack.

*Run away when he does the Breath attack with the dragon. You cannot avoid it completely, but you should be able to avoid being hit hard.

I cannot put enough emphasis on grinding. Believe me, you think Xaldin is tough? I thought Demyx (round two at Hollow Bastion) was tough, mostly because of those damned timed waterform battles....

it's been quite a whiles since i've played, so i'm not familiar with strategies atm.

if the strategies posted online don't help, maybe you need to lvl ups a bit more and then try.

Did you try Gamefaqs?

They have forums to ask and LOTS of faqs and things.

the best way to beat him is to level up, and if other planets are open with new story lines, play them first to get more powerful keyblades.

I've already tried GameFAQs and just need some extra tips (Not allowed to go on the forums unfoutunentely). Part of my problem is that I can't seem to use the "Learn" reaction command to get the Jump ability without getting hit. I upgraded my Keyblade (Been using Kingdom Key up till this point. Now using Circle of Life) and I probably should grind a little since the battle level in Beast's Castle is 36 and I'm only level 35 -_-;.

The only real problem I had with Demyx was how he kept comboing on me. IMO, the timed water battles weren't so much of a problem.

On the bright side, I've learned that Mickey can appear more than once in a single battle (He appeared at least three times once).

Mickey only appears in certain battles (thankfully for me, Xaldin was one of them). Not only that, but after you use him once, there is only a certain probablity that he'll save your hide again.

Try grinding somewhere that has decent enemies and that you've already cleared of bosses. Hollow Bastion is probably your best bet at this point in the game. And, if you have Strength Ups and Defence Ups, use them on Sora.

I only had a problem with 2 boses in the game the one where you have to beat the guitar guy quickly and and the one you are talking about. my brother was whent quite well at these guys though, i can not remember how i did it but were not alone. i think it may have somthing to do with stats as i chose mostly magic and my bro used atacking. oh and sephiroph who i havnt beat yet, he has managed to beat me in three atacks.

He's not that hard once 1) you learn his pattern, and 2) level up the drive form that gets you high jump, I forget which one it is but I think it's the Wisdom form. High jump allows you to avoid the breath attack.

High Jump is actually Valor Form. The Quick Run ability is Wisdom Form.
