I was listening to the song, "Gold Digger," by Kanye West yesterday, and I thought to myself, "My goodness, is Jamie Foxx trying to impersonate Ray Charles?" Do any of you think so?

Yes, he did, but his cameo in the song, "Gold Digger" was very unusual. He sounded a lot like Ray. I'm wondering if that song was made especially for the movie.

I don't think he's trying to impersonate him, but the two do sound alike, you have to admit. One parallel I noticed is Val Kilmer and Doors lead singer Jim Morrison in The Doors.

Yes, Jamie Foxx is trying to imitate Ray Charles on that song. And while that impersonation would work well comedically, I think he's trying to be taken seriously with it. Which is unfortunate, because it just sounds silly and over-the-top.
