he's the lead singer for the post-grunge band Days of the New. They had a song called "Touch, Peel and Stand" that was huge in the mid-90s.

I'm reviving an older topic here, but Meeks was in his mid-20s when diagnosed a little more than ten years ago. I know from personal experience what it's like to be diagnosed at an age older than Meeks. I figure I would've had an easier time had I been diagnosed before being a teenager, but very few doctors would've known what Asperger's would be in the first place at that time.

I'm sure like Meeks, I feel like there's water under the bridge I wish I could reverse.

Neither have I. How popular was this guy and his band?

Had a million selling self-titled album in 1997 with the band Days of the New. Two albums after that, one of them sold 450,000 copies (another self-titled album referred to as "Green" which was essentially a Travis Meeks solo record still using the name Days of the New). Not readily known in pop circles, more known in the rock crowd. The song "Touch, Peel and Stand" had a lot of airplay on rock and alternative stations in 1997.

They got significant radio airplay on alternative rock/"new rock" format radio stations after their self-titled was out. Not much after that. I was never a big fan, but at least they weren't Creed.

I've finally found a reason.
I don't need an excuse.
I've got this time on my hands.
You are the one to abuse...

Pretty big song when I was 15 or so, some 20 years ago. If you're too old or too young, it might not mean much. But Days in the New was only really a one or two hit wonder.

Amazingly, when this thread was started in 2008, the OP was equidistant in time between their fame (10 years earlier) and the present-day (10 years later).

Side note: Meeks was also a meth addict and appeared on one of those intervention shows at some point.
